Al Montoya will start for Winnipeg on Tuesday.

Montoya has only played in 12 games this season, but he's been better than starter Ondrej Pavelec. If Montoya can maintain anything close to his current 2.02 GAA and .929 save percentage, he might start getting serious consideration for the starting job.

Ben Bishop appears as though he'll be back from a lower-body injury on Saturday.

Tampa Bay reassigned Andrei Vasilevskiy, who was up with the team on an emergency basis, to the minors on Wednesday. He played well during Bishop's absence, picking up two wins in three appearances. We'll keep you posted but it looks like fantasy owners will get Bishop back this weekend.

Andrei Vasilevskiy has been returned to AHL Syracuse.

He was up with the Lightning on an emergency recall, but Ben Bishop is poised to return to the lineup on Saturday. Vasilevskiy was impressive in three appearances with Tampa Bay. He posted a 2-1-0 record with a 2.01 goals-against average and .940 save percentage.

John Scott has been suspended for four games for punching an unsuspecting opponent.

The incident occurred on Monday when he hit Anaheim forward Tim Jackman in front of the Ducks goal. Jackman was injured on the play and Scott is considered a repeat offender under the terms of the CBA. He will be eligible to return on Jan. 5 when the Sharks begin a three-game road trip in Winnipeg.

Stephen Weiss logged just 8:55 of ice time in his return to the lineup from a shoulder injury on Tuesday night.

He appeared to receive an elbow to the head from Sabres defenseman Nikita Zadorov, which removed him from the game. However, Weiss insists that he's fine. "I didn't see him," he said. "I couldn't tell you what happened. I was a little woozy there but I feel fine. I had my bell rung a little bit but I went through the protocol." We'll keep him as active for now. The Wings play Saturday against Ottawa in their first game back from the Christmas break.
Dec 24 - 10:44 AM

Niklas Kronwall exited Tuesday's game with an upper-body injury.

He was sandwiched by two members of the Buffalo Sabres in the second period and stayed on the bench for a few shifts before heading to the locker room for the rest of the game. Kronwall is listed as day-to-day for now and he'll try to recover during the Christmas break.
Dec 24 - 10:37 AM

Hurricanes coach Bill Peters thinks Jordan Staal (leg) might return on Monday.

That's in line with his previous predictions, but the closer we get to that date, the more likely Staal's return seems to be. It will be interesting to see if the Hurricanes ease Staal into the lineup given that he's missed the entire season to date. In that vein, we recommend tempering your early expectations for Staal as he might need some time to get up to speed.
Dec 24 - 5:49 AM

Semyon Varlamov celebrated his return to the lineup Tuesday with a 26-save shutout against the Blues.

Varlamov missed a couple of weeks of action due to another recurrence of his groin injury, but looked to be in top form in his return. The victory improves his record to 5-6-5 while his GAA falls to 3.01 and his save percentage rises to .913.

Tyler Johnson buried three goals for the Lightning on Tuesday night as they defeated Pittsburgh by a score of 4-3.

Johnson's sophomore campaign has been fantastic overall and his play of late has been even more notable. He is currently in the midst of a five-game point streak during which he has collected five goals and three assists. Nikita Kucherov also scored for the Bolts while Ondrej Palat drew three helpers in the win.
Dec 24 - 12:15 AM

Rick Nash continued his torrid season Tuesday by registering two goals and an assist in a 4-2 defeat of the Capitals.

Nash has seen his personal scoring streak get snapped at 11 in the past week, but after being held pointless in two outings he got back on track with three in this contest. His 36 points on the season currently rank him 10th in the league. Martin St. Louis also tallied twice in the victory while Mats Zuccarello and Derick Brassard each recorded two assists as well.
Dec 23 - 11:18 PM

Henrik Lundqvist steered away 30 of 32 shots Tuesday night en route to a 4-2 victory over Washington.

The red hot netminder extended his winning streak to six games with the victory and improved his record to 15-7-3 on the season. After a mediocre start to the campaign Lundqvist has gradually improved his numbers to the point where he now holds a 2.44 GAA and a .913 save percentage.
Dec 23 - 11:14 PM

Jonathan Bernier was fantastic Tuesday as he stopped all 43 shots he faced in a 4-0 shutout win over Dallas.

The win was a welcome change for Bernier and his fantasy owners as the netminder endured a rough stretch by allowing a combined 10 goals in his last two starts, both losses. The shutout is his second of the campaign and the win improves his record to 14-8-3. He currently sports a 2.65 GAA and a .921 save percentage.
