Lundqvist turned aside all 38 shots he faced and in doing so, won his fourth game in five outings. The veteran goalkeeper is beginning to find his form, improving his record to 16-17-3 with the victory. His peripherals have also improved, as his GAA now stands at 2.58 while his save percentage has risen to .914.

Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist kicked out 36 shots to spark New York to a 3-2 triumph over the visiting Los Angeles Kings Monday night.

It was Lundqvist's third consecutive win. He has allowed four goals -- and has stopped 80 shots -- in those three games. The veteran all-star has improved his win-loss record to 21-12-1. His goals-against average is down to 2.75 after a rough period before his past three games, and his save percentage is .906. You could do worse than have Lundqvist now as your fantasy goalie.

Dmitry Orlov scored two goals to lead the Capitals to a 6-1 rout over the Carolina Hurricanes in Washington Monday night.

The Caps are on fire. Their win Monday extended their points streak to 14 games, tied for the second-longest in their history. Washington is 12-0-2 over the streak and has scored at least four goals in eight consecutive games. Orlov's goals were his third and fourth of the season. Also notching goals for the Caps Monday were Justin Williams (his 17th of the season), Evgeny Kuznetsov (seventh), T.J. Oshie (18th) and Lars Eller (seventh). Andre Burakovsky assisted on three of Washington's goals and now has 16 assists on the season.
Jan 23 - 10:35 PM

Matt Duchene will miss Monday's game against San Jose because of an illness.

This definitely isn't good news for the Avs, who are already struggling to find the back of the net. Duchene is considered day-to-day at this point. He leads the team with 15 goals this season. Rene Bourque, Tyson Barrie and Semyon Varlamov are also out with injuries. Colorado will be forced to dress 19 players instead of 20.
Jan 23 - 8:40 PM

Sami Vatanen will be a healthy scratch in Monday's game against the Winnipeg Jets.

Vatanen averages over 22 minutes of ice time per game this season, but the Ducks are clearly trying to send him a message after his brutal performance against the Wild. He finished with a minus-4 rating that game.

Jonathan Bernier will get the nod in Monday's game against the Winnipeg Jets.

Bernier will make his second straight start because John Gibson was dealing with a minor injury, but Gibson is healthy enough to serve as the backup tonight. Bernier has a 7-4-1 record with a 2.95 goals-against-average and a .899 save percentage.
Jan 23 - 7:46 PM

Jeff Zatkoff will get the start in Monday's game against the New York Rangers.

Conor Sheary has been chosen as the first star of the week.

He racked up six goals and nine points in four games during the period ending Jan. 22 to receive the honor. Sheary registered two-goal outings on three occasions and he posted a pair of three-point efforts during a four-game point streak. He has 17 markers and 17 assists in 39 games this year.

Zack Smith has inked a four-year extension with the Ottawa Senators.

The contract has an annual average value of $3.25 million, which he will earn each year starting in 2017-18. Smith would have been eligible for unrestricted free agency at the end of the season.

Johnny Gaudreau will be reunited with Sean Monahan on Monday night against Toronto.

The duo will be joined by Alex Chiasson. Gaudreau hasn't scored a goal for nine games and he has three assists during that time. Perhaps skating alongside Monahan, who has been red hot lately, can get Gaudreau back on track.
Jan 23 - 5:36 PM

Thomas Vanek (lower body) will not play on Tuesday night.

He is listed as day-to-day and hasn't been ruled out for Wednesday's game versus Toronto. Vanek was hit in the groin area by a puck on Sunday.
Jan 23 - 5:06 PM

Patrik Laine (concussion) could be back as soon as Tuesday night.

Coach Paul Maurice called him an "option" to play against San Jose. "He feels really good," Maurice said. "So he's been banging on the door a little bit here. He's feeling strong, feeling ready. We needed to push him as hard as we did (Sunday) just to clear up any concerns that we would have. He's very, very close." Laine did some extra skating after Monday's optional session as he prepares to return from a concussion.
