Sharks defenseman Dan Boyle says he has suffered sleep deprivation, balance issues and a general lack of energy after a hit from behind in St. Louis that left him unconscious for six minutes.

"In hindsight, you see guys that don't even get knocked out and they're gone for two or three months," Boyle said Friday. "In hindsight -- and it wasn't the team that was forcing me, it was all me -- it would have been a good idea for me to stay away a little longer." Boyle missed seven games spread over two weeks after being driven face-first into the lip of the boards by St. Louis Blues forward Maxim Lapierre on Oct. 15. Lapierre missed his next five games as the NHL suspended him for the illegal and dangerous hit. "He (Boyle) had to fight through a lot," coach Todd McLellan said. "I do think he's beyond that now, that he's recovered and it's showing in his play. He's starting to sharpen up again and get back to the player he was early in the year."

Andre Burakovsky scored a goal in a 3-2 shootout win over the Devils on Saturday.

Burakovsky is red hot with 12 points in his last nine games with goals in five straight games. If he is available in your league, pick up the talented forward before it is too late. His second period goal was assisted by Justin Williams and Evgeny Kuznetsov.

After receiving a cross-check to the head, Simmonds responded by punching Ryan McDonagh with his gloves on. Ryan White has taken Wayne Simmonds spot on the top powerplay and has produced a goal for the Flyers.

Coach Mike Yeo announced that forwards Thomas Vanek and Jason Zucker would be healthy scratches on Saturday against the Blues.

With the Wild losing four straight, Coach Yeo deemed it necessary to send a powerful message to his team that they need to improve. Vanek has only one point in his last eight games. Chris Porter and Tyler Graovac will enter the lineup tonight.
Feb 6 - 1:15 PM

Frederik Andersen has now won five straight games.

Five wins and just nine goals against in the process, as Andersen turned away 23 of 25 Coyotes shots in Friday's 5-2 win. That's mighty fine play for any netminder, especially one who is fighting to keep his starting gig like Andersen. His record now stands at 10-8-5 on the season.

With a flick of his wrists, Shane Doan tied Dale Hawerchuk for most all-time power play goals in franchise history.

Make that 122 career power play goals for the long time Captain. Doan leads the team in goals with 19, nine of which have come with the man advantage. For what it's worth, Doan is now tied with Thomas Vanek for eighth among active players in power play goals. Marian Hossa sits fifth with 138, Alex Ovechkin is second with 187, and Jaromir Jagr leads with 208 but ranks just 13th all-time.

The Battle of Pennsylvania will add a new chapter to their illustrious history in 2017, it's just a matter of format.

Scott Burnside notes that while "pans for next year’s Winter Classic remain fluid," Pittsburgh versus Philadelphia in an outdoor venue is a "virtual lock." As it stands now, likely venues are for a match at Heinz Field which is home of the NFL's Pittsburgh Steelers. Problem is that if the NHL wants this game as their Winter Classic, the Steelers aren't inclined to budge on forfeiting home field on the last day of the regular season. They're also reticent to potentially ruin their field for a Wild Card playoff game the following week. There's also talk of playing the game at Penn State University, but "the financial demands" appear to rich. Whether they play as the Winter Classic match or as part of the Stadium Series, these two bitter rivals appear set to create history for themselves.

As luck would have it, Sonny Milano will return AHL Lake Erie's lineup.

Milano has missed the last three weeks due to an upper body injury. He's had a good season for Lake Erie, posting five goals and 14 points in 25 games as a 19-year-old.
Feb 5 - 6:45 PM

Jason Spezza (upper body) has been moved to the injured reserve list.

Spezza sustained the injury when he was smashed into the boards on Thursday. We don't know much about the severity of his injury yet, but placing him on the IR list means that he won't be available for at least a week. He has 18 goals and 40 points in 52 contests in 2015-16. Dallas has called up Radek Faksa as a result of this injury.
Feb 5 - 6:00 PM

Sean Couturier will miss the next four weeks with a lower-body injury.

Couturier has nine goals and 24 points in 40 games this season. He might not have developed into the prolific scorer we were looking for, but he is an important part of the Flyers' puzzle. This is a tough setback for the squad as they try to claw their way into the playoffs.
