Anton Khudobin was the NHL's star of the month for January.

He appeared in 14 games for the Hurricanes, where he earned a 10-4-0 record with a 2.19 goals-against average and a .927 save percentage. He allowed three goals or less in each of his appearances. The Hurricanes have Cam Ward back from injury now, but Khudobin's superb play could lead to some tough calls.

Leon Draisaitl picked up a goal and three assists in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Anaheim Ducks.

What an incredible night for the Oilers forward. Draisaitl helped set up Mark Letestu's power play goal in the first period (1-1) before picking up primary assists on third-period goals by Letestu (2-1) and Adam Larsson (3-1). Draisaitl finally put the game away in the third frame, as he was able to score an empty-netter with just over a minute left in regulation. Draisaitl had no points in his first four games of the 2017 playoffs, but he's now recorded seven points in his last three contests. Game 2 will be held in Anaheim on Friday night.

Kevin Bieksa left Wednesday's game against Edmonton because of a lower-body injury.

Bieksa exited the game in the second period after he got tangled up with Edmonton's Anton Slepyshev in the second period. The Ducks defenseman never returned to the game (he played just 7:03 tonight). It's a tough blow for Anaheim, as they're already without Sami Vatanen, but the good news is that Vatanen is closing in on a return. Bieksa is considered day-to-day for now.

Ryan Getzlaf scored a goal and an assist in Wednesday's 5-3 loss to the Edmonton Oilers.

Getzlaf opened the scoring with a beautiful wrist shot just 37 seconds into the second period to give his team a 1-0 lead. Getzlaf was the victim of some poor luck a few minutes later, as his stick broke while the Ducks were trying to kill off a 5-on-3 Oilers power play. Moments after Getzlaf's stick shattered, Mark Letestu found the back of the net to tie the game. The Ducks captain was able to cut Edmonton's third-period lead to 3-2 by picking up the primary assist on Patrick Eaves' goal. Getzlaf now has four goals and three assists in five games this postseason. Anaheim will look to even up the series at home on Friday night.

P.K. Subban scored a goal and two assists in Nashville's 4-3 win over St. Louis on Wednesday night.

Subban was a man on a mission tonight, as he really took control of this game in the first two periods. He picked up the primary assists on Colin Wilson's first-period goal before scoring one of his own (Subban's first playoff goal as a Predator) early in the second frame. He also helped set up Filip Forsberg's power play tally later on in the period. Subban finished the game with a plus-1 rating, two penalty minutes and five shots on goal in 23:16 of ice time. He now has five points in five games this postseason. Vernon Fiddler scored the game-winning goal for Nashville. The Predators lead the best-of-seven series 1-0. Game 2 will be held in St. Louis on Friday night.

There was an 18-minute delay during the second period of Wednesday's game between the Predators and Blues.

The game was delayed because Predators forward Kevin Fiala was taken to hospital by ambulance after suffering a lower-body injury. The game couldn't resume until an ambulance returned on site at Scottrade Center.

Kevin Fiala was stretchered off the ice during Wednesday's game against the St. Louis Blues.

Fiala lost an edge right as Blues defenseman Robert Bortuzzo delivered a solid hit on him. The collision caused Fiala to crash into the boards awkwardly, and it looks like his left leg absorbed the worst of the blow. Don't expect him to return to tonight's game. Fiala could be out for a while, but the Predators will likely make an official announcement on his status after the game. Fiala has been taken to a nearby hospital. Erik Karlsson said that his foot is virtually back to normal, which is why he didn't have a problem talking about his injury on Sunday.

He revealed that he played the entire first round with two hairline fractures to his foot. "It's probably something that's not going to affect me anymore moving forward," said Karlsson. "It's something that's done with. I just felt like getting it out of the way instead of having it keep lingering on. I'm not much for secrets."
