Phil Kessel scored two goals and registered an assist in the Penguins' 5-2 win over Washington in Game 2 Saturday night.

Kessel has excelled in the 2017 playoffs with four goals and 11 points in seven games. Jake Guentzel also came up big on Saturday with two goals and an assist of his own. Evgeni Malkin and Matt Cullen each scored a goal and registered a helper. For Malkin, that puts him up to 13 points in seven games. Sidney Crosby registered two assists, giving him 11 points in the Penguins' playoff run.

The New Jersey Devils have won the 2017 NHL Draft lottery.

This was a draft of big movement. The Devils moved from a projected fifth spot to first, but they weren't the team that saw the biggest jump. The Philadelphia Flyers were projected to pick 13th overall, but they have moved up to the second spot. The Dallas Stars will round out the top three despite being projected to pick eighth. Meanwhile the big loser was the Colorado Avalanche, which had the best odds of winning the draft, but will instead select fourth. The Vancouver Canucks will round out the top five while the expansion Las Vegas Golden Knights will pick sixth.
Apr 29 - 8:23 PM

Carl Hagelin (lower body) is returning to the lineup for Game 2 on Saturday.

Hagelin was able to fully participate in Friday's practice, but then he skipped Saturday's morning skate, so his status was up in the air. This will be his first game since March 10. He's projected to be playing alongside Nick Bonino and Conor Sheary.
Apr 29 - 7:56 PM

Jean-Gabriel Pageau scored four goals to lead Ottawa to a 6-5 double overtime victory against the New York Rangers on Saturday.

Not only did Pageau have an amazing game, but his goals were incredibly timely as well. His second and third goals came late in the third period to close the gap for Ottawa and force overtime. As if the hat trick wasn't enough, he then scored the overtime winner. The 24-year-old forward had just 12 goals in 82 games during the regular season and 45 goals in 251 career contests. He also had one marker in Ottawa's first seven playoff games of 2017. Mark Stone and Marc Methot accounted for the Senators' other two markers.
Apr 29 - 7:20 PM

It appears that Kevin Bieksa might miss the rest of the second round with the lower-body injury he is currently nursing.

Bieksa was injured during the second period of Game 1 after he got tangled up with Edmonton's Anton Slepyshev. The Ducks went down 2-0 in the series last night and losing Bieksa for the rest of the series won't make it any easier for them to come back. With Vatanen also a question mark for Game 3, the Ducks will be missing some key pieces at the back in Edmonton.
Apr 29 - 2:28 PM

The New York Rangers are not expected to be making any changes to their lineup ahead of Game 2 against the Ottawa Senators this afternoon.

Meaning that Tanner Glass, Adam Clendening, Kevin Klein, Matt Puempel, Steven Kampfer, and Brandon Pirri will all watch the game from the press box. The Rangers are currently down 1-0 in the series but were a few bounces away from taking Game 1. Coach Alain Vigneault is confident in the lineup that got him out of the first round against the Canadiens.
Apr 29 - 1:50 PM

It appears Paul Carey will make his NHL playoff debut in game 2 against the Pittsburgh Penguins tonight.

"What we’re trying to do, he’ll be a real good fit," Trotz said of Carey. "He’s a hard worker. I just think he’ll get an opportunity. He hasn’t had that opportunity. When he’s gone in he’s done a great job. Just looking for a little bit of a fit." Carey has 32 career games under his belt, split with the Colorado Avalanche and the Washington Capitals. He will take Brett Connolly's spot in the lineup and play alongside Jay Beagle and Daniel Winnik.
Apr 29 - 12:27 PM

Guy Boucher has announced to the media that he will not make any changes to his lineup ahead of Game 2 against the New York Rangers.

Not much of a surprise after the Senators took Game 1 from New York by a score of 2-1 on Thursday. That leaves Tom Pyatt, Chris Kelly, Chris Wideman, Chris Neil, Colin White, Jyrki Jokipakka, and Chris DiDomenico as the scratches for the Sens this afternoon.
Apr 29 - 12:13 PM

Cam Talbot was spectacular in Friday's 2-1 win over the Anaheim Ducks.

Talbot was clearly the best Oiler on the ice tonight, as he turned aside 39 of 40 shots in the victory. The only goal he allowed came while his team was shorthanded (Jakob Silfverberg beat him with a perfect wrist shot). With the Ducks continuously buzzing in the third period, Talbot was able to come up with huge saves to keep his team ahead (he was also bailed out by the post on two occasions in the final period). Talbot owns a 6-2 record with a 2.02 goals-against-average and a .934 save percentage. It's the fourth time in eight games that Talbot has given up one goal or less in an outing. The Oilers are now heading back home with a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series. Game 3 takes place on Sunday night.
Apr 29 - 1:39 AM

Vladimir Tarasenko scored a pair of goals in Friday's 3-2 win over the Nashville Predators.

Tarasenko talked about being "better" in the second round than he was in the first, and he delivered a big performance tonight. His first goal, which was scored on the power play, tied the game at one with 20 seconds remaining in the opening period. Then, with just under four minutes remaining, Tarasenko managed to net the game-winning goal. He finished the game with a plus-1 rating and six shots on goal in 22 minutes of ice time. Tarasenko now has three goals and two assists in seven playoff games. This best-of-seven series is tied 1-1 with Game 3 being played in Nashville on Sunday.
Apr 28 - 11:17 PM

Sami Vatanen will not be in the lineup for Game 2 against Edmonton on Friday night.

Vatanen took part in the pre-game warmup, but he wasn't part of any pairing during line rushes. He's closing in on a return, but he remains day-to-day for now.
