Luke Schenn was plus-two with six hits on Saturday and is now a plus-10 in his last six games.

The streak has pushed Schenn into plus territory on the season as he is plus-seven. Schenn has three goals and seven points but his fantasy value lies in hits as he is eighth in the NHL with 181.

The Predators would like to bring back Mike Ribeiro.

"I believe he and his family are very happy here," GM David Poile said. "Hopefully it's a marriage that wants to continue here in Nashville. Poile was thankful that the Predators had Ribeiro on their roster in 2014-15 after he signed a one-year deal worth $1.05 million last summer. "It was exactly what the doctor ordered," Poile said. "(He brought) a dimension that I don't think we had. (If) we don't have Mike Ribeiro, it's going to be hard making the playoffs because he generated so much offense. How would have Filip Forsberg done without him? ... I thought he played just terrific for us." He posted 15 goals and 62 points in 82 games this past campaign and said last week that he "would love to be back" in Nashville.

Jamie Benn had his second hip surgery in a week this past Monday.

He is slated to be skating in August and could be ready for the start of the regular season if he progresses as expected. According to head athletic trainer Dave Zeis, Benn has responded well from the procedures thus far. Benn played through the issue for most of the season and he led the league in scoring with 87 points in 82 games.

Andrew Ladd is nominated for the Mark Messier Leadership Award.

"It means a lot for different reasons," said Ladd, who is a finalist alongside Jonathan Toews and Ryan Getzlaf. "The two guys I'm nominated with I've played with and realized what they mean to their teams and to their communities and I know what they do on a daily basis as leaders. So, to be mentioned in the same group as them is quite an honor. And with Mark Messier having a hand in choosing the nominations is pretty special, too." Ladd will have sports hernia surgery on Friday.

Mikael Backlund scored the winner early on in overtime to help Calgary get back in the series against Anaheim with a 4-3 win on Tuesday.

Backlund couldn't have picked a better time to score his first goal of the postseason with the Flames series hopes on the line. The game never would have gotten to extra frame if not for a late game tying goal by super rookie Johnny Gaudreau. The Flames also got goals from Brandon Bollig and Joe Colborne as their collective efforts on Tuesday got them right back in the series. For Backlund it was just his second point in nine playoff games.

Corey Crawford was excellent on Tuesday night as he stopped all 30 shots he faced in a 1-0 win over the Wild to give the Blackhawks a commanding 3-0 series lead.

Crawford has managed to shake off a challenge from Scott Darling in round 1 of the playoffs and has excelled in the second round, allowing just four goals on 94 shots in three outings vs. Minnesota. The Stanley Cup winner has clearly returned to his top form and the Blackhawks are playing as well as they have in some time.

Brandon Prust has been fined $5K for his "derogatory public comments directed toward Referee Brad Watson" during last Sunday's post-game interviews.

Per HL Senior Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations Colin Campbell, "Brandon Prust's post-game comments were both baseless and demeaning of a referee whose 20-year career in the League has been marked by professionalism, integrity and a high degree of respect from players, coaches and management." And with that, Prust's bank account lightens up a bit.

David Desharnais (flu) is expected to play on Wednesday.

That's despite the fact that Desharnais was so ill that he apparently needed to go to the hospital to get re-hydrated. He missed Sunday's game due to the disease. Brian Flynn was inserted into the lineup as a result and will probably be a healthy scratch again now that Desharnais is available.

Washington goalie Braden Holtby made 30 saves in the Capitals' 1-0 shutout over the visiting New York Rangers in Game 3 of their Eastern Conference Second Round series Monday night.

Holtby made Jay Beagle's second-period goal stand up with his first shutout of the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs, the second of his NHL playoff career. Holtby has been outstanding this postseason, with a very impressive goals-against average of 1.54 and an equally impressive save percentage of .949. Against the Rangers, Holtby has allowed a mere four goals in this series, turning aside 63 of 67 shots for a .940 save percentage. Holtby has established himself this season as a reliable workhorse. He's now started 82 regular-season and postseason games in 2014-15.

Lou Lamoriello has announced that Ray Shero will be the Devils' new general manager.

Lamoriello will still be the team's president, but this is nevertheless a big change for the Devils' organization. The Devils enjoyed an era of tremendous success under Lamoriello that was highlighted by Stanley Cup championships in 1995, 2000, and 2003. More recently though the Devils have struggled and the franchise hasn't been to the playoffs since 2012. Shero is the former general manager of the Pittsburgh Penguins and won a Stanley Cup with them in 2009.

David Desharnais isn't travel with the Canadiens to Tampa Bay due to the flu.

Desharnais was also a late scratch on Sunday because of the illness. While this isn't great news, it's important to emphasis that Montreal's next game against the Lightning is scheduled for Wednesday, so it's entirely possible that Desharnais will still meet up with the team before that contest. If he can't play though, Brian Flynn will probably stay in the lineup.
May 4 - 12:14 PM

Patrick Kane became the 91st player to record 100 career playoff points.

Kane is actually at 101 points in 101 games after scoring two goals in Chicago's 4-1 win on Sunday. He's just 26 years old, but throughout his career he's been an offensive force for Chicago in the postseason. If Chicago is able to eliminate Minnesota after taking a 2-0 series lead, then it will be the fifth time that the Blackhawks have advanced to at least the Western Conference Final in the last seven years.
