Phil Kessel needed X-rays on his foot after blocking a shot in the Leafs' loss to the Red Wings.

Kessel blocked a shot with his right foot in the third period. Coach Randy Carlyle had no update after the game on Kessel's status or the results of the test. Kessel played 18:07, with three shots on a goal and four penalty minutes. Suffice to say, if he's out, the Leafs' chances of digging out of this slump and getting back into a playoff spot are severely hampered.

Marc-Andre Fleury returned to action Tuesday against the Hurricanes and he allowed two goals on 37 shots in a shootout loss.

It was Fleury's first appearance since Oct. 13 due to a concussion. He looked pretty sharp considering the lengthy layoff, but it's no surprise that once the game went to a shootout he might be at a disadvantage. Bench boss Gerard Gallant made it known the veteran would be making a majority of the starts now that he is healthy, so that's bad news for Malcolm Subban and any other Golden Knights backstops who held down the fort in Fleury's absence.

Cam Ward allowed two goals on 24 shots in Tuesday's 3-2 shootout victory at Vegas, his 300th career win.

Ward is the 32nd goaltender in NHL history to reach 300 victories. He and the Hurricanes didn't have a lot of success last season in the shootout, and they dropped their past three games by one goal. So this was an impressive show of moxie by the young Hurricanes, beating one of the league's best teams at home so far this season. Ward has now won two of his past three starts.
Dec 13 - 1:18 AM

Patrick Kane scored the game-winning goal in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime win over the Florida Panthers.

Kane finished the game off at the 2:24 mark of the overtime period. After going four games without a point, the Blackhawks forward has picked up three points in his last two games. Kane now has 11 goals and 30 points in 31 games this season. Brandon Saad and Jonathan Toews also found the back of the net for the Blackhawks in the win.
Dec 12 - 11:39 PM

Devan Dubnyk suffered a lower-body injury in Tuesday's game against the Calgary Flames.

Dubnyk came out of the game after the first period and did not return. He had stopped all 10 shots he faced at that point. The Wild ended up winning the game 2-1 in a shootout with Alex Stalock allowing one goal on 17 shots in the victory. After the game, head coach Bruce Boudreau said he didn't have an update on Dubnyk's status. He's considered day-to-day for now.

Patrick Marleau scored a goal, his 1,100th NHL point, in a 4-2 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers Tuesday night.

Marleau scored his milestone point in the opening period of the loss to the Flyers. The forward has 1,100 points in 1,525 career games. Marleau now has 11 goals and 18 points in 32 games this season.

Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped all 32 shots he faced in Tuesday's 3-0 win over the St. Louis Blues.

Vasilevskiy has now won four games in a row and five of his last six outings. This was the third shutout of the season for the Lightning goaltender. Vasilevskiy now has a 20-4-1 record with a 2.15 goals-against-average and a .933 save percentage this season. He'll continue to be one of the top fantasy options at his position.
Dec 12 - 11:04 PM

Brayden Point picked up a goal and an assist in Tuesday's 3-0 win over the St. Louis Blues.

Point opened the scoring with a goal at the 19:15 mark of the first period. He also helped set up Tyler Johnson's empty-netter late in the third frame. Point now has 13 goals and 28 points in 30 games this season. The Lightning forward is currently riding a five-game point streak (he has seven points during that stretch).

Evgeny Kuznetsov registered three assists in a 5-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday.

Kuznetsov recorded his first multi-point game since Nov. 30, assisting on the game's opening before dishing two more assists in the third. Kuznetsov now has 10 goals and 34 points in 32 games this season.

Connor McDavid scored a goal and three assists en route to a 7-2 blowout victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday night.

Connor McDavid seems to have recovered from that 24-hour flu that kept him out of practice Monday. The superstar powered the Oilers with two second period assists before adding a third in the final period along with a goal. It was the first ever four-point game of his career. McDavid now has 12 goals and 39 points in 31 games this season.

Taylor Hall scored a pair of goals in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Los Angeles Kings.

On a negative note, he suffered a lower-body injury and was not able to finish the game. Hall's power play goal at the 16:14 mark of the first period gave the Devils a 2-0 lead at the time. He then added his second of the night in the second frame to make it 3-0 for his team. Hall finished the game with a plus-1 rating and three shots on goal in 16:31 of ice time. The Devils forward now has 10 points in his last nine games. Hall is up to 11 goals and 31 points in 30 games this season.
Dec 12 - 9:45 PM

Derick Brassard found the back of the net in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Buffalo Sabres.

The Sens found themselves down 3-0 heading into the third period. They were able to close the gap thanks to goals by Cody Ceci and Brassard, but they were unable to complete the comeback. For Brassard, this goal (finally) put an end to his 20-game goalless drought. The Sens forward has seven goals and 18 points in 29 games this season. He's still not worth owning in most fantasy leagues right now.
