Petter Granberg has been summoned from the minors.

He will make his NHL debut Saturday night against Ottawa. Granberg has skated in 70 games with the Leafs' minor-league affiliate this season, where he has six points.

Mats Zuccarello has agreed to a one-year, $3.55 million contract.

Zuccarello reportedly wanted $4.5 million annual salary as part of a long-term deal, but the Rangers probably favored giving him a "show me" contract instead. He had 19 goals and 59 points in 77 games last season, but his previous campaigns in the NHL had been something of a mixed bag.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed David Booth to a one-year, $1.1 million contract.

There was a time when Booth was a safe bet to score over 20 goals and 40 points per season. However, that's when he was logging 18-plus minutes per game in Florida, which ended with his acquisition by the Vancouver Canucks. Booth never fit in with Vancouver and his problems were amplified by a series of injuries. A fresh start is exactly what Booth needs, but he's far from a safe bet to capitalize on this opportunity.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have fired former vice president of hockey operations Dave Poulin and assistant general manager Claude Loiselle.

Although Toronto hasn't engaged in a major shakeup of its roster and has decided to retain head coach Randy Carlyle and GM Dave Nonis, the Maple Leafs have engaged in a personnel shakeup after they endured yet another spectacular collapse in 2013-14. They have also hired 28-year-old Kyle Dubas to serve as an assistant general manager. Dubas previously served as the OHL's Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds' general manager for three years. He was one of the youngest GMs in OHL history when he originally took the job with the Greyhounds.

Cody Franson has inked a one-year, $3.3 million contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Franson had an arbitration hearing scheduled for Monday, so the two sides agreed to terms just under the wire. The deal represents a substantial raise over his previous one-year, $2 million deal. He had five goals and 33 points in 79 games in 2013-14.
Jul 21 - 10:00 AM

The New York Rangers have confirmed that they've signed veteran forward Lee Stempniak to a contract and reports suggest it's worth $900,000 for one year.

Stempniak, 31, played 73 games last season with the Calgary Flames and Pittsburgh Penguins. He had 12 goals, 22 assists and 32 penalty minutes.

Dmitry Kulikov has signed a three-year, $13 million contract extension with the Florida Panthers.

Kulikov was a restricted free agent after completing his two-year, $5 million deal. He had 19 points and 66 penalty minutes in 81 games last season. The Panthers were one of the worst teams offensively last season and while they won't be great in 2014-15, they should at least approach the level of mediocrity and that will help Kulikov reach the 25-point mark for the third time in his career.
Jul 18 - 12:31 PM

The Buffalo Sabres have signed Tyler Ennis to a multi-year contract extension.

Buffalo didn't disclose the term or cap hit, but it's reportedly a five-year, $23 million contract. The Sabres are betting on Ennis bouncing back after recording just 43 points in 80 games last season. He certainly has the capacity to firmly establish himself as a solid top-six forward and could end up with 50-60 points in 2014-15.
Jul 17 - 10:26 AM

Jason Demers has signed a two-year, $6.8 million contract extension with the San Jose Sharks.

With that, the Sharks and Demers have successfully avoided arbitration ahead of their July 22 hearing date. He's coming off of a breakout season where he scored five goals and 34 points in 75 games. The fact that it's a two-year deal makes a lot of sense for San Jose as it will give Demers a chance to prove that he's capable of continuing to perform at that level before they potentially make a long-term commitment.
Jul 16 - 4:22 PM

Derek Roy has inked a one-year, $1 million contract with the Nashville Predators.

Nashville also signed Mike Ribeiro to a one-year, $1.05 million contract Tuesday morning. Like Ribeiro, Roy could prove to be a big steal for the Predators, but there's also a reason why he would sign at that price. Roy has seen his production decline significantly over the last few years and he just had 37 points in 75 games with St. Louis in 2013-14. Still, he's just 31 and will probably start the season on one of Nashville's top two lines. Combine that with the Predators desire to put a greater emphasis on offense next season and the stage seems set for Roy to bounce back.

Sidney Crosby won't undergo wrist surgery after all.

It was initially reported that Crosby would probably have surgery on a previously undisclosed wrist injury. The Penguins later confirmed the injury, but cautioned that surgery might not be necessary. Now the decision has been made "after seeking additional medical advice."

The Nashville Predators have signed Mike Ribeiro to a one-year, $1.05 million contract.

The fact that Ribeiro will earn just $1.05 million after commanding a four-year, $22 million contract last summer speaks volumes to how severe his fall from grace has been. Ribeiro didn't have a particularly good season, but the Coyotes said they bought him out due to "behavioral issues" rather than performance ones. Perhaps that scared off other suitors, but the Predators needed a center that was worthy of playing alongside James Neal and when he's at his best, Ribeiro certainly qualifies. This could be a big bounce back season for him.
