The injury sustained by Brenden Morrow that is keeping him from playing in the playoffs is a fractured foot.

The injury was previously described as merely a "foot injury" but now we know Morrow's foot is actually broken. He won't be playing for quite some time.

Dan Girardi is out taking line rushes with Mikhail Sergachev and appears on track to return tonight against the Vegas Golden Knights.

Girardi missed two games before Tampa's bye week with a neck injury after he was struck by the puck during a game. He has 11 points in 42 games and should not be owned in fantasy leagues.

Jake Muzzin (upper body) has been taken off the injured reserve list.

That sets the stage for Muzzin to return on Thursday. He was sidelined for three straight games. He has three goals and 23 points in 41 contests in 2017-18.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (upper body) has been moved to the injured reserve list.

Nugent-Hopkins was injured when he took a hard hit from Brayden McNabb on Jan. 13. The good news is that it's not a concussion or a shoulder problem. The injury happened just before the Oilers' bye week so there is an outside chance that he won't end up missing any games over this ailment, but the fact that Edmonton placed Nugent-Hopkins on the IR list suggests that they probably expect him to miss at least Saturday's contest.
Jan 18 - 3:55 PM

Carter Hutton will get the nod in Thursday's game against Ottawa.

Hutton has seemingly taken over as the top goaltender on the Blues, as he has seen most of the work in January over a struggling Jake Allen. He's been strong all season with a 9-3-1 record, 1.78 GAA, and .942 save percentage in 17 contests.
Jan 18 - 12:24 PM

Anton Khudobin will be in net for the Bruins on Thursday against the Islanders.

Khudobin is getting the second game of Boston's back-to-back situation after Tuukka Rask was in goal for Wednesday's win over Montreal. He turned aside 29 of 32 shots in a 3-2 overtime loss to Dallas on Monday in his last outing. Khudobin has a 9-2-4 record, 2.40 GAA and .924 save percentage in 16 contests this season.
Jan 18 - 12:11 PM

Joonas Korpisalo will probably start for the Blue Jackets on Thursday.

That hasn't been confirmed, but Korpisalo was the first goaltender off the ice following the morning skate and that's usually a good indicator of who the starter will be. It would be Korpisalo's first start since Dec. 31.
Jan 18 - 12:06 PM

Josh Bailey (lower body) will return to the Islanders' lineup on Thursday.

Bailey missed four straight contests. He's been outstanding this season with 12 goals and 50 points in 42 games. Be sure to put him back into your lineup if you have him.
Jan 18 - 12:02 PM

Michal Neuvirth will be between the pipes for the Flyers Thursday night versus Toronto.

It's a rare start for Neuvirth, who has acted as Brian Elliott's understudy this season. Elliott has struggled recently though, which likely contributed to the decision to give Neuvirth the nod.
Jan 18 - 11:21 AM

Keith Kinkaid will get the nod for the Devils Thursday night.

Kinkaid is being rewarded for stopping 25 of 26 shots in a 4-1 win over the Islanders on Tuesday. It was a strong outing in what has been a mixed season for him. Additionally, Cory Schneider just recovered from an illness. Kinkaid has a 6-3-2 record, 3.10 GAA and .901 save percentage in 12 contests.
Jan 18 - 11:19 AM

Bobby Ryan (hand) declared himself ready to go after practice on Wednesday.

Ryan skated alongside Matt Duchene and Mike Hoffman in the session and he should be expected to play Thursday night versus St. Louis. He cautioned that he may play with some discomfort for the rest of the season, but the break did him some good and gave him additional time to recover.
Jan 18 - 9:34 AM

Brad Marchand scored a goal and an assist in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Montreal Canadiens.

Marchand helped set up David Pastrnak's game-tying goal in the first period before adding a power play goal at the 3:40 mark of the third frame to give his team a 3-1 lead at the time. The Bruins forward finished the game with an even rating, three shots on goal and two hits in 15:54 of ice time. Marchand is up to 19 goals and 43 points in 35 games this season. He's picked up at least one point in five of his last six contests. Ryan Spooner and David Krejci also found the back of the net for the Bruins in the win.
