Marian Gaborik scored with seven seconds left in regulation to force overtime, and then scored 12:07 into the extra period to lift the Los Angeles Kings to a 3-2 victory Saturday night over the Anaheim Ducks in the opener of the first playoff series between the Southern California teams.

Gaborik redirected Anze Kopitar's shot past Anaheim goaltender Jonas Hiller for the winner. He also had an assist on the Kings' first goal of the night. Gaborik improved his playoff numbers to five goals and three assists. Anze Kopitar, who is enjoying a brilliant post-season, picked up assists on all three Los Angeles goals. He has nine assists in the playoffs as well as four goals. The Kings' other goal Saturday was scored on a power play in the first period by Alec Martinez, his first of the post-season.

Jake Allen will not travel with the Blues to Winnipeg even though he's healthy.

The Blues want to give Allen a chance to reset after he had to be pulled in his last three starts. St. Louis still regards Allen as its long-term starting goaltender though. Pheonix Copley was called up, so he'll join the Blues for Saturday's game. That being said, the Blues haven't made a decision as to who their starter will be.

Jakob Silfverberg has an upper-body injury.

Silfverberg isn't going to travel with the team to Minnesota, so he won't play on Saturday. He probably will miss Monday's game in Winnipeg too, but it's theoretically possible that he'll meet up with the Ducks before that contest. He has 13 goals and 29 points in 48 contests in 2016-17.
Jan 20 - 1:45 PM

Morgan Rielly (lower body) won't return on Saturday.

That will be Rielly's second straight game on the sidelines. On the plus side, he did skate by himself on Friday.
Jan 20 - 1:29 PM

Anders Nilsson is over his illness and will get the start on Friday.

Nilsson will attempt to end his personal three-game losing streak. He has a 2.56 GAA and .924 save percentage in 17 contests this season.
Jan 20 - 11:45 AM

Clarke MacArthur (concussion) will be held out for the rest of the season.

MacArthur sustained the injury during a training camp scrimmage. "Clarke is devastated by this news," Dorion relayed to the media this morning. "He felt he didn't have any symptoms but I think in the long-term of this process we always said that the doctors would decide if Clarke was going to play. They all feel that Clarke should not play this year." MacArthur was also limited to four games last season due to a separate concussion.

Nick Ritchie scored late to lead the Ducks to a 2-1 win over Colorado in a game that saw 45 minutes in delay because of a broken glass pane.

Ritchie scored his 11th of the season, beating Avalanche goalie Calvin Pickard with a shot from the slot with 2:02 remaining to help the Ducks pull out the win. The former first rounder had three shots and four hits as well. Hampus Lindholm scored the other goal for the Ducks who outshot the Avalanche 36-22.
Jan 20 - 2:54 AM

Sean Monahan scored and picked up an assist in the Flames 4-3 loss to Nashville on Thursday.

He is red hot with a goal in each of his last four games and six points overall during that stretch. He added six shots on net but was a minus-1 on the night. The 22-year-old has 14 goals and 15 assists for 29 points in 48 games. Kris Versteeg and Michael Frolik scored the other goals for the Flames who mounted a furious comeback that came up short in the final four minutes. Dougie Hamilton added two assists.
Jan 20 - 1:40 AM

Ryan Ellis scored twice in Nashville's 4-3 win over Calgary on Thursday.

It marked the first time in his career that he scored multiple goals in an NHL game. Ellis's whale of a game started with a semi breakaway goal on a rush that he himself started to make it 2-0 in the second period. He later made it 3-0 on a power-play point shot that squeezed through the five-hole on Chad Johnson. He added three hits in a whopping 27:54 of ice time. Filip Forsberg and James Neal each added goals while Viktor Arvidsson had two assists.
Jan 20 - 1:22 AM

Nino Niederreiter scored two goals and an assist in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Arizona Coyotes.

Niederreiter picked up the primary assist on Eric Staal's first period-goal before adding one of his own about nine minutes later. The Wild forward also added the game-winning goal with just over seven minutes remaining in the game. Niederreiter is now riding a three-game point streak. The 24-year-old is up to 14 goals and 31 points in 44 games this season.
Jan 20 - 12:12 AM

Michael Grabner scored a pair of goals in Thursday's 5-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Grabner scored both of his goals in the final 5:03 of the game, as his shorthanded goal gave New York a 4-2 lead and his empty netter made it 5-2. Grabner now has nine points in his last six games and he's up 21 goals and eight assists in 45 games this season. Brady Skjei, Pavel Buchnevich and J.T. Miller also scored for the Rangers tonight.
Jan 19 - 11:45 PM

Jake Allen got the hook in Thursday's game against the Washington Capitals.

Allen was yanked at the 7:33 mark of the second period after he allowed a fourth goal on the 10th shot he faced. The Blues ended up losing the game 7-3, but backup goalie Carter Hutton allowed the last three goals. Allen has now been pulled in each of his last three starts. He has a 17-12-3 record with a 2.85 goals-against-average and a .897 save percentage in 2016-17. We don't recommend using him in standard fantasy leagues right now.
