John Gibson set aside 28 shots as the Ducks topped the Kings in Game 4 of their second-round series 2-0 on Saturday night.

Ducks coach Bruce Boudreau, with Frederik Andersen injured, made the surprising choice to go with the rookie over veteran Jonas Hiller for his first playoff start -- and first NHL start, period, since April 13. All the 20-year-old did was stand on his head for much of the game in recording his second NHL shutout. It was simply a sensational performance for Gibson, who showed great poise on the road and was positionally sound throughout. The series is now tied at two apiece, and it will shift to Anaheim for Game 5 on Monday. Gibson, who in three regular-season starts had a 1.33 goals-against average and .954 save percentage, figures to be between the pipes then.

Taylor Hall will miss the next two games with a hand injury.

That will keep Hall out for Monday's game against Detroit and he won't travel for Tuesday's match versus Boston. The injury is not believed to be long-term and he will be re-evaluated on Wednesday. The Devils host Nashville on Thursday before the All-Star break.

Charlie McAvoy underwent a procedure Monday to treat an abnormal heart rhythm.

McAvoy experienced heart palpitations during a game back on Nov. 26 and he was monitored for the condition afterward. He had a procedure called an ablation because of the high probability of recurrence, but it's not considered to be a dangerous issue. McAvoy is expected to be out of two weeks.
Jan 22 - 4:16 PM

Petr Mrazek will get the nod against New Jersey.

Mrazek hasn't played since Jan. 14 when he blanked the Chicago Blackhawks with 27 stops. He has a 4-5-1 record this year with a 3.43 goals-against average and .894 save percentage in 13 appearances.
Jan 22 - 3:55 PM

Ondrej Palat (lower body) will be sidelined for six-to-eight weeks.

That's a big blow to the Lightning, as the team was already playing without top blueliner Victor Hedman. Palat has played well defensively this season, while contributing eight goals and 30 points in 46 games.
Jan 22 - 3:51 PM

Alex Stalock will be in the crease Monday against Ottawa.

Stalock hasn't played since Jan. 9 when he stopped 26 of 29 shots in a 3-2 overtime loss to Calgary. Coach Bruce Boudreau wants to get the backup goaltender some playing time before the All-Star break. Stalock has a 7-8-2 record this campaign with a 2.71 goals-against average and .914 save percentage.
Jan 22 - 3:09 PM

Tyson Barrie (hand) won't return Monday night.

Colorado will feature the same lineup as the Saturday. Barrie might be able to play Thursday against St. Louis, but he isn't expected to play Tuesday. He is listed as day-to-day.
Jan 22 - 2:33 PM

Chad Johnson will be between the pipes Monday against his former Calgary teammates.

Robin Lehner has been struggling and the Sabres play again on Tuesday at Edmonton, so Johnson will get his first start since Jan. 5. He has made two relief appearances during Lehner's recent rough patch and he allowed six goals on 32 total shots. Johnson is 1-8-3 on the season with a 3.85 goals-against average and .878 save percentage this season.
Jan 22 - 2:24 PM

Mike Condon will start Monday against Minnesota.

Condon hasn't played since Jan. 9 when he made a relief appearance versus Chicago and this will be his first start since Dec. 30. He has a 3-5-4 record this year with a 3.48 goals-against average and .894 save percentage in 15 outings.
Jan 22 - 1:52 PM

Mark Stone won't play Monday because of a knee injury.

Stone left Saturday's game against Toronto twice, but he managed to return both times. Chris DiDomenico, who was just called up from the minors, will fill in up front against Minnesota.
Jan 22 - 1:48 PM

Matt Murray (personal) was back on the ice for Monday's practice.

However, there is still no update on his status, as Murray remains day-to-day. His father passed away last week and he hasn't played since Jan. 7.
Jan 22 - 1:08 PM

Jaden Schwartz (ankle) has been cleared medically, but he isn't expected to play Tuesday.

Schwartz wants to get his timing down with some additional practices before going back into the lineup. He has been on the sidelines since Dec. 9 because of an ankle injury.
