Jeremy Roenick thinks the San Jose Sharks should try to trade Patrick Marleau during the off-season.
"If it were me, like I said, I think Joe Thornton is the captain, and he should stay in place, but they should see what they can get for Patrick Marleau, who has been there his whole career, and maybe he needs a change of scenery and you can get a lot for him," said Roenick. "He's an extremely talented player and you can get a lot on the market for a guy like him, and maybe change the chemistry on the team." Marleau led the Sharks with seven points in seven games in the team's Round 1 playoff loss to Los Angeles, but he was held off the scoresheet in the last three contests of the series. He also finished third on the Sharks with 70 points and second on the club with 33 goals in 82 games during the regular season. Roenick has been critical of Marleau in the past, but he wasn't placing the blame solely on him or Thornton like others have done. The Sharks have talked openly about shaking up their leadership group and dealing Marleau would fit that objective.
