Nashville GM David Poile is not looking to trade Shea Weber.

"We're keeping him, we're building our franchise around him," Poile said Wednesday in an attempt to put an end to any lingering rumors. "I think we've got one of the best young defenses in the league. I think he's got an excellent chance of winning the Norris Trophy in 11 or 12 days from now. Why wouldn't we build our team around him? That's exactly what we're doing." Weber is a finalist for the Norris Trophy and he led the team in scoring with 56 points in 79 games.

Artem Anisimoscored and assisted twice in the Blackhawks’ 5-1 win against the Stars on Saturday night.

There’s not doubt that Anisimov is benefitting from his linemates. That’s not to say he isn’t an effective player. It’s just that with 18 goals and 31 points, it’s not like he’s terrorizing the league, despite what it seemed like earlier this year. Marian Hossa, Patrick Kane, Brent Seabrook and Trevor van Riemsdyk got the other goals. Artemi Panarin had two assists.

Kris Letang recorded three points in the Penguins’ 3-2 overtime win against the Panthers on Saturday night.

The defenseman scored twice, including the winner, and assisted once. The Penguins were basically willed to a victory on the backs of two players, Letang and Sidney Crosby, who scored and assisted twice. The duo accounted for 13 of the team’s 35 shots, too. Trevor Daley got two helpers.
Feb 6 - 10:35 PM

Aleksander Barkov netted a shorthanded goal for the Panthers in their 3-2 overtime loss to the Penguins on Saturday night.

How much longer until we consider Barkov as one of the top players in the East? The 20-year-old has 16 goals and 35 points, with goals in four consecutive and points in six in a row. Jussi Jokinen got the other goal, while also adding an assist.
Feb 6 - 10:34 PM

Erik Karlsson picked up four assists in the Senators’ 6-1 win against the Maple Leafs on Saturday night.

Is there any question as to who should be leading the Norris race? It’s crazy to think, but Karlsson would be getting some Hart love, too, had he played on a better team. Karlsson has points in four games in a row, boosting his totals to 11 goals and 59 points. Curtis Lazar (two goals) Zack Smith (goal, assist), Mark Stone (goal, assist), Mika Zibanejad and Bobby Ryan got the goals.
Feb 6 - 10:23 PM

Brad Marchand netted the game-winning overtime goal for the Bruins in their 2-1 triumph against the Sabres on Saturday night.

Marchand tied his 2014-15 goal total in 30 fewer games, and he’s four away from matching his career-high 28, which he set in 2011-12. He has goals in four of his past five games, with 22 shots during that stretch. Marchand isn't much of a playmaker, but he'll chip in some penalty minutes, making him a strong fantasy play. Loui Eriksson notched the other goal.

The February 14th match between Detroit and Boston has been moved back to 3:30 PM eastern.

The original start time for the game was only 3:00 PM, so this shouldn't affect anyone too much. The game will still be broadcast on NBCSN.

Malcolm Subban has been hospitalized after taking a puck to the throat in Saturday's match with Portland.

Subban was injured prior to the game during warm-ups. There is no word yet on how the young netminder is doing, but we'll keep you posted. Hopefully this is more of a precautionary maneuver. Zane McIntyre took the net without a backup tonight.
Feb 6 - 7:41 PM

Kyle Turris will center Bobby Ryan and Mike Hoffman in his return to Ottawa's lineup Saturday night against Toronto.

It's been six games since Turris last played for the Senators. He's posted 13 goals and 30 points in 46 games this season, and is a must-start.
Feb 6 - 6:57 PM

Andre Burakovsky scored a goal in a 3-2 shootout win over the Devils on Saturday.

Burakovsky is red hot with 12 points in his last nine games with goals in five straight games. If he is available in your league, pick up the talented forward before it is too late. His second period goal was assisted by Justin Williams and Evgeny Kuznetsov.
Feb 6 - 4:40 PM

Flyers forward Wayne Simmonds received a match penalty on Saturday.

After receiving a cross-check to the head, Simmonds responded by punching Ryan McDonagh with his gloves on. Ryan White has taken Wayne Simmonds spot on the top powerplay and has produced a goal for the Flyers.
Feb 6 - 2:27 PM

Coach Mike Yeo announced that forwards Thomas Vanek and Jason Zucker would be healthy scratches on Saturday against the Blues.

With the Wild losing four straight, Coach Yeo deemed it necessary to send a powerful message to his team that they need to improve. Vanek has only one point in his last eight games. Chris Porter and Tyler Graovac will enter the lineup tonight.
