Ryan Johansen, the Blue Jackets' leading scorer last season, is free to negotiate with all NHL teams but don't expect the high-scoring center to be playing with any team other than Columbus next season.
Johansen can receive offer sheets from other clubs, and he probably will, but Columbus GM armo Kekalainen has said he will match any offer sheet Johansen could sign, and he can, because the club is about $18 million under the salary cap.
"If he signs an offer sheet, he signs an offer sheet," Kekalainen said. "Our ownership is strong, and I said before, we would match any offer he could possibly sign. If somebody wants to waste their time and effort on that, that’s fine for them. We’d just match it and keep the player." Johansen had 33 goals and 30 assists with Columbus last season.
