According to Philadelphia GM Ron Hextall, Kimmo Timonen's blood clots could be a "long term situation."

"I hate to even speculate," Hextall said. "The best I can say is that it could be a long term thing. Can he play at some point next season? I don't have the answer to that. I know he's in stable condition and doing well." He can be discharged from the hospital on Wednesday, but he can't travel for up to three weeks. When he can return to Philadelphia, the Flyers doctors will evaluate him and the club will decide how to proceed. Timonen felt pain in his leg and thought he pulled a muscle, so he was very surprised to learn that he had been diagnosed with blood clots in his lower right leg and in both lungs.

Petr Mrazek did not get a qualifying offer from Philadelphia.

Mrazek was not expected to be retained by the Flyers, so this shouldn't come as a surprise. He got off to a hot start after he was acquired from Detroit, but quickly faded and overall he failed to impress. Mrazek will look for another chance elsewhere, as an unrestricted free agent, after two lackluster seasons in a row.

Rick Nash is reportedly interested in returning to the Columbus Blue Jackets.

According to the Athletic's Aaron Portzline, Columbus is at the top of Nash's list and the team has been showing more interest than they did at the trade deadline. However, Portzline added that Boston and other teams will be in the mix as well for the veteran winger. Nash started his NHL career with the Blue Jackets after the team selected him first overall in 2002. He last played for the club in 2011-12.

Noah Hanifin is expected to partner with Travis Hamonic on the blueline for the Flames next season.

Hanifin was acquired from the Hurricanes on Saturday along with Elias Lindholm as Dougie Hamilton, Micheal Ferland and Adam Fox went the other way. The Flames are expected to reunite T.J. Brodie with Mark Giordano as well and their blueline appears to be one of the best in the NHL. Look for Hanifin to continue improving as he had 10 goals and 32 points as a 21-year-old in his third NHL season.
