Beau Bennett (wrist) is back on the ice and feeling healthier, but he isn't sure if he'll be ready for training camp.

"Playing it by ear right now," said Bennett, who took part in drills and a scrimmage. "Every day it's feeling a little better, and we're increasing a little bit, the weight training and on-ice stuff. It's still early, and I'm glad I'm here early enough where I can really see where I'm at." He underwent surgery May 22, which marked his third serious wrist operation. Bennett's chances of sticking in the Penguins' top-six forward group this season increased when the team lost James Neal and Jussi Jokinen. Pittsburgh's new coach, Mike Johnston, is someone he's known for five or six years as his neighbor and Bennett was very good friends with Johnston's son.

Nothing official has been announced yet, but it looks like the Boston Bruins put Brad Marchand on injured reserve on Saturday.

That's according to the team's website, yet it hasn't been expanded upon at this point. Marchand's been sidelined since last Sunday. The 26-year-old has 11 points in 19 games so far this season. Boston faces the Montreal Canadiens tonight (Saturday).
Nov 22 - 2:14 PM

Alex Pietrangelo has not played well for the Blues thus far this season.

He has registered a mere seven points in 19 games after recording 51 in 81 games last year. Pietrangelo has also been a bit of a liability without the puck as he has a minus five rating after posting a plus 20 rating in 2013-14. We expect Pietrangelo to rebound some, but his poor start can't be erased.

Braden Holtby will get the start in goal for Washington on Saturday.

Holtby was the first goalie off the ice on Saturday which is the usual indicator as to who will start. The netminder is 7-4-2 this season with a 2.26 GAA and .914 save percentage. He is a good goalie to start in daily pools like FanDuel as the Capitals take on the Buffalo Sabres Saturday.

Kimmo Timonen (blood clots) still wants to play hockey.

Timonen was diagnosed with blood clots in his right calf and both lungs in the off-season and has been taking medication ever since to thin his blood. He has a condition that affects his mom and his two brothers as well and will likely need to be on anticoagulent medication the rest of his life. He can lift weights, play tennis etc. but he is unable to play hockey at this time. He will have ultrasounds and CT scans in the New Year and his hockey fate may be determined at that time. Stay tuned.
Nov 22 - 10:18 AM

Antti Raanta will start for the Blackhawks against the Edmonton Oilers.

The Los Angeles Kings will receive cap relief as Slava Voynov remains suspended indefinitely.

Voynov has been charged with one felony count of corporal injury to a spouse with great bodily injury. He was suspended after the allegations initially surfaced, but until now his $4,166,667 cap hit was still counting against the Kings. That put Los Angeles in a situation where replacing him was very difficult and it led to them playing shorthanded on multiple occasions.

The Buffalo Sabres and New York Rangers game that was supposed to be played tonight has been moved to Feb. 20.

Buffalo has endured a major snowstorm in recent days, which is the reason why the contest has been postponed. Buffalo was supposed to play against the Ottawa Senators on Feb. 20, but that contest has been moved to Dec. 15 instead.
Nov 21 - 4:03 PM

The San Jose Sharks have traded Jason Demers and a 2016 third-round pick to the Dallas Stars in exchange for Brendan Dillon.

Demers has three assists in 20 games this season, which is a huge step down from his 34-point 2013-14 campaign. This is a chance for Demers to get a fresh start, so he'll be worth keeping an eye on over the Stars' next few games.
Nov 21 - 3:30 PM

Daniel Alfredsson has reportedly decided not to play in 2014-15.

Alfredsson had an interest in continuing his career, but he's been dealing with an injured disc. If this is the end of his playing days, then Alfredsson will retire with 444 goals and 1,157 points in 1,246 games. He spent the vast majority of his career with the Ottawa Senators, but left in the summer of 2013 to sign a one-year deal with Detroit.
