Jakob Silfverberg signed a one-year contract with the Ducks that will pay him $850,500.

Silfverberg actually turned down that amount back in June when it was his qualifying offer. He will have arbitration rights next summer as a restricted free agent if an extension isn't agreed to before then. Silfverberg got off to a good start before he suffered a broken hand. He ended up scoring 10 goals and 23 points in 52 games. Silfverberg will try to earn a spot on the second line this campaign.

The Philadelphia Flyers will go with Ray Emery against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday.

That's not particularly surprising given that Steve Mason played on Tuesday. Emery has a 2.73 GAA and .907 save percentage in two games this season. Given Mason's rough start to the campaign, there might be an opportunity for Emery to take the starting job if he gets hot.

Charlie Coyle has agreed to a five-year, $16 million extension with the Minnesota Wild.

Coyle is in the last season of his entry-level contract and will come with a $3.2 million annual cap hit starting in 2015-16. This could end up being a great deal for Minnesota. Coyle had 30 points in 70 games last season, but he's capable of doing significantly better than that. We're looking for the 22-year-old forward to get around 45 points this season and if all goes well, he should top that figure in the years to come.

The NHL has postponed Wednesday's game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Ottawa Senators.

The game was scheduled to be played at 7:00 p.m. ET. The game hasn't been rescheduled yet. This is in light of the multiple shooting incidents in Ottawa that have occurred Wednesday. One incident involved the shooting of a Canadian soldier at the National War Memorial.

Corey Crawford (upper body) won't participate in Chicago's upcoming two-game road trip.

Crawford already missed Tuesday's contest due to the injury. He won't even travel with the team as the Blackhawks play in Nashville on Thursday and St. Louis on Saturday. They'll be back home for a game against Ottawa on Sunday.
Oct 22 - 1:27 PM

Jake Muzzin (upper body) is cleared to return.

Muzzin missed the Kings' first six games. He's likely to play alongside Drew Doughty. Muzzin had five goals, 24 points, and 58 penalty minutes in 76 games in 2013-14.
Oct 22 - 1:21 PM

Colin McDonald has been placed on waivers by the New York Islanders.

McDonald has played in just two games this season. He might have gotten more playing time had the Islanders not acquired Johnny Boychuk and Nick Leddy before the start of the season.
Oct 22 - 12:40 PM

Alex Galchenyuk has enjoyed an excellent start to the 2014-15 season.

He scored his third goal and seventh point in seven games during Tuesday's 2-1 overtime win over Detroit. Galchenyuk tucked the puck into the net on a wraparound goal late in the third period to send the game into an extra session. He has credited his off-season training regimen with his confident play to open the year. "I had a great summer of training and I definitely got stronger," said Galchenyuk. "I feel more confident physically. Every summer, your goal is to get more confident so that you can compete. Your linemates can also make a difference. I'm happy to be playing with (Tomas Plekanec and P.A. Parenteau) and they have helped me a lot." The 20-year-old forward is stepping up for the Canadiens and new career highs in all offensive categories should be attainable even though his point-per-game pace will probably not be maintained.
Oct 22 - 8:53 AM

Jonathan Drouin picked up his first NHL point on an assist in Tampa Bay’s 2-1 OT win over Calgary on Tuesday.

Playing in his second NHL game the rookie was at times dazzling with his puck control while playing on a line with Steven Stamkos. Drouin really should have had the OT winner but was stymied by Karri Ramo on a two-on-nothing chance with Steven Stamkos. As long as the kid is playing with Stamkos he is a great fantasy option this season.
Oct 22 - 12:04 AM

Pekka Rinne was steady again Tuesday night as he steered aside 33 of 36 shots en route to a 4-3 shootout victory over the Coyotes.

After an injury-plagued 2013-14 campaign it was fair to question Rinne's form entering this season, but he has answered all critics in the early going with a 4-0-1 record in his first five starts. He has been spectacular so far, having allowed just eight goals all year and posting a 1.55 GAA to go along with a .940 save percentage. It's safe to say he has regained his position in the top tier of fantasy goaltenders.
Oct 21 - 11:59 PM

Phil Kessel put on quite the show Tuesday as he potted a pair of goals and added a helper in Toronto's 5-2 win on Long Island.

Though he entered the night with a respectable five points in six games, Kessel's season had been a mix of peaks and valleys until he exploded with this showing. James van Riemsdyk also scored for the Leafs in the win, as did Roman Polak and David Clarkson.
Oct 21 - 10:23 PM

Karri Ramo will play between the pipes on Tuesday.

The Calgary Flames have been dividing the goaltending workload evenly between Ramo and Jonas Hiller. Ramo has a 2.30 GAA and .920 save percentage in three starts.
