Sidney Crosby said on Friday that he is pleased with the recovery of his injured right wrist after testing it in ramped up on ice workouts in Florida last week.

Crosby injured his right wrist at some point during last season. Several doctors recommended arthroscopic surgery this summer, however, Crosby and his agent opted to seek a more conservative sort of treatment. Crosby has been receiving injections to help heal the wrist throughout the summer, which have avoided the need for an operation. Results so far are good, and we expect the star to be producing at full capacity at the start of training camp.

Craig Anderson has returned home to be his wife again.

He will not accompany the Senators on their trip to California and it's unclear when he will return to the lineup. Anderson has left the team a few times this season, as his wife undergoes treatment for nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Sam Gagner led the Blue Jackets to a 4-1 victory on Monday with two goals and two assists.

Gagner was limited to just eight goals and 16 points in 51 games with Philadelphia last season, but he seems to have turned his career around in Columbus. After Monday's showing he now has 10 goals and 17 points in 23 games this season. Nick Foligno and Zach Werenski each found the back of the net for the Blue Jackets. Cam Atkinson assisted on two of Columbus' four goals.
Dec 5 - 10:43 PM

Marcus Johansson scored two goals, including the overtime marker, in Washington's 3-2 win over Buffalo Monday night.

Those were Johansson's 10th and 11th goals in 24 games this season. To give that some context, he has never scored more than 20 markers in a single campaign, so he's currently on pace to shatter his personal best. He also remarkably already has five game winners. Jay Beagle scored Washington's other goal. Evgeny Kuznetsov, Justin Williams, Daniel Winnik, John Carlson, Dmitry Orlov, and Brooks Orpik each registered an assist.
Dec 5 - 10:31 PM

Bryan Rust had a hat trick and registered an assist to lead the Penguins in an 8-5 victory over Ottawa Monday night.

Rust's hat trick was an unusual one. He got his first goal just 1:45 minutes into the game, but then didn't find the back of the net again until the third frame. His second marker was scored on a penalty shot and then he completed the hat trick with an empty netter at 17:32 of the third period. On a team with quite a bit of offensive talent - as tonight's game displayed - Rust is not known for his goal scoring touch. In fact he had just eight goals in 77 career NHL games prior to Monday's efforts.
Dec 5 - 10:24 PM

Matt Beleskey will miss six weeks because of a knee injury.

Beleskey was injured in Saturday's game against the Sabres and he didn't play in tonight's game against Florida. Expect him to return in mid-January. The Bruins forward has two goals and three assists in 24 games this season.
Dec 5 - 9:57 PM

Zdeno Chara will return to the lineup on Monday.

He ended up missing six games in all. Chara is currently skating on Boston's first pairing with Brandon Carlo. He has one goal and six assists in 19 games. The Bruins captain averages 22:41 of ice time per game.
Dec 5 - 6:49 PM

The Montreal Canadiens are terming Alex Galchenyuk (leg) as "out indefinitely."

Galchenyuk sustained the injury during the third period of Sunday's contest. The fact that Montreal is labeling him as out indefinitely is obviously very discouraging as while that timetable is vague, it tends to be used in relation to long-term injuries. That being said, Montreal plans to have an update on Galchenyuk later this week after he undergoes further testing.

Anthony Duclair will be a healthy scratch on Monday.

Duclair had a strong rookie showing with 20 goals and 44 points in 81 games last season, but his sophomore campaign has been a huge step down thus far. Through 23 contests, he has just one goal and four points. Coyotes coach Dave Tippett sees this as an opportunity for Duclair to "reset." He'll be back in the lineup on Tuesday.
Dec 5 - 2:49 PM

Taylor Fedun's previously undisclosed injury is a shoulder issue.

Fedun is listed as day-to-day, but isn't expected to play on Monday. The Sabres' blueline has been decimated recently by injuries, so the fact that this might be short-term has to come as a relief to Sabres fans. In the meantime, Erik Burgdoerfer will draw into Buffalo's lineup on Monday.
Dec 5 - 12:32 PM

It looks like Louis Domingue will play between the pipes Monday night.

Domingue last played on Nov. 23. He has a 3.21 GAA and .904 save percentage in 14 games this season.
Dec 5 - 12:26 PM

Jhonas Enroth has been placed on waivers by the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Enroth was brought in by Toronto to serve as the team's backup goaltender, but he's been used sparingly and hasn't been effective on the rare occasions that he has played. He has a 3.94 GAA and .872 save percentage in six games this season with only four of those being starts. Though Karri Ramo remains unsigned, he has practiced with the Maple Leafs and this Enroth decision is likely a signal that Ramo will become Toronto's new backup goaltender.
