Alex Galchenyuk was not present at today's practice because he is dealing with a stomach flu.

Galchenyuk has 22 points in 40 games this season, with 16 coming in his last 22 games. The Habs are really struggling, losing five-straight and losing Galchenyuk for even a game won't help their chances at turning their season around.

Braden Holtby will start Wednesday night against Toronto.

Holtby allowed seven goals on 43 shots in a 7-6 OT loss against San Jose on Tuesday night after he was pulled on Sunday against Chicago. He has a 17-11-3 record this season with a 3.04 goals-against average and .906 save percentage.
Jan 23 - 5:29 PM

Juuse Saros will be between the pipes on Wednesday against Vegas.

Saros is coming off a 4-2 loss to Florida on Saturday. He has posted a record of 11-6-1 this season with a 2.67 goals-against average and .908 save percentage.
Jan 23 - 3:03 PM

Tyler Bozak (concussion) has been activated from injured reserve.

Bozak hasn't played since Jan. 5 because of a concussion, but it looks he will return on Wednesday night. He was productive prior to getting hurt with seven points in 10 contests. Bozak has six goals and 18 points in 39 matches this year.
Jan 23 - 1:28 PM

Philipp Grubauer will get the nod on Wednesday night against Minnesota.

Grubauer hasn't played since Jan. 8 when he allowed six goals on 20 shots in a 7-4 loss to Winnipeg. He has a 9-5-3 record this season with a 3.29 goals-against average and .895 save percentage.
Jan 23 - 1:14 PM

Calvin Pickard will be in goal Wednesday night against Montreal.

This will be Pickard's debut with the Coyotes. He had a 4-2-2 record with a 4.01 goals-against average and .863 save percentage in 11 appearances with Philadelphia prior to being place on waivers and claimed by Arizona.
Jan 23 - 12:39 PM

Oliver Ekman-Larsson (lower body) won't play on Wednesday night.

Ekman-Larsson will have an MRI when he returns to Arizona on Thursday to determine the extent of the lower-body injury he suffered on Tuesday.

The Edmonton Oilers have fired GM Peter Chiarelli.

The Oilers made the move after Tuesday night's 3-2 loss to the Detroit Red Wings. It was the club's third straight defeat at home. Edmonton owns a 23-24-3 record this season and could miss the playoffs for 12th time in 13 years. Chiarelli has been with the team for three-and-a-half seasons. It won't be a quick fix for whoever takes control next.

Alex Ovechkin will play Wednesday night against Toronto.

Ovechkin will have to sit out Washington's game after the break on Feb. 1 against Calgary for deciding not to attend the All-Star Game this weekend. It's not surprising that he wants to play on Wednesday, as Washington has gone six games without a win and he probably wants to end that skid before the break.
Jan 22 - 11:21 PM

Michael Ferland has an upper-body injury and won't return to Tuesday's game.

Ferland did not play on Sunday because of an upper-body injury and that issue may have re-appeared. We hope to get an update post-game.
Jan 22 - 11:00 PM

Darcy Kuemper allowed two goals on 27 shots in Tuesday's 3-2 win over the Ottawa Senators.

Kuemper should have done better on Bobby Ryan's goal but he didn't have much of a chance when Ryan Dzingel beat him with one through a few bodies. Regardless, Kuemper has gone 6-0-1 in his last seven games, improving his record to 11-11-4 with a 2.63 goals-against-average and a .914 save percentage. It's incredible to see the Coyotes play so well considering they have five or six big pieces missing from the lineup.
Jan 22 - 10:24 PM

Ryan Dzingel scored a goal and assisted on another in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Arizona Coyotes.

Dzingel started off his night with a secondary assist on Bobby Ryan's goal that Darcy Kuemper should have likely done before firing off a quick shot through a maze of bodies for his goal. It's Dzingel's 13th point in his last 11 games, bringing him to 20 goals and 38 points in 48 games this season. It will be interesting to see if the Senators can get the pending UFA signed to an extension or if he'll be used as a trade chip towards the deadline.
