Ivan Barbashev picked up a goal with an assist and a plus-2 rating with a blocked shot and a hit in Monday's 4-2 win in Anaheim.

Barbashev had a nearly identical stat line in Los Angeles on Saturday, picking up a goal with an assist, a plus-2 rating and two shots in that game, too. In fact, he has lit the lamp in three of his past four games, as scooting up to the line with Alexander Steen and Vladimir Tarasenko has done wonders for his production. If he is still available off the waiver wire, he's not a bad addition in deeper pools. He is also a sweet mid-tier sleeper pick in DFS formats.

Erik Haula played on the right wing with Paul Stastny and Max Pacioretty as his linemates Saturday.

Haula has always been a center but with the free-agent signing of Stastny, he was bumped to the third line on the depth charts at center. The move to the right will give him a chance to be a top-six forward this season and playing with Pacioretty and Stastny will provide him with great linemates. He had 29 goals and 55 points last season and a bump to 30-35 goals and 60 points could be in the cards for Haula. Draft him in deeper leagues and he is also worth a shot in some shallow pools at the end of the draft.

Potential fantasy owners will love to hear the news that Kris Letang looks to be back to the blueliner he was a couple of seasons ago.

That blueliner was one of the best in the NHL but Letang has not looked that way in the last two seasons as he has battled injuries and illness. But in Saturday's game Letang looked great, making some magic with Sidney Crosby. "I think he’s in a much different place than he was a year ago," coach Mike Sullivan said. "He’s got a full summer of training. His fitness level is where he expects it to be. I think he’s still working on his timing and things of that nature that every player who is coming back from the offseason is working on at this point, but I think he’s in a very different place than he was a year ago and that’s good for us." Look for a big season from Letang and if he can stay healthy, a 70 point season could be in the cards. Draft thinking 55-60 points but there is upside here.

Connor McDavid's Edmonton teammates think he is better and faster this season.

We are talking already about the best and fastest player in the world so these are encouraging words for fantasy owners. McDavid has led the NHL in scoring the last two years, putting up 108 points in 2017-18 and should be in line for more should he stay healthy. "He’s played very well in practice and done really well in the games," coach Todd McLellan said. "You hope a player gets better every year he’s in the league and eventually peaks. He’s still a young guy. I know he’s craving to become a better player and produce more on both sides of the puck. If he’s moving in that direction we’ll have an even better player."

Filip Zidina scored his first goal of the preseason during Saturday’s 4-3 overtime win over the Boston Bruins.

Zadina took a feed from Niklas Kronwall and one-timed a shot on the power play to open the scoring. Zadina is in a battle for a spot on Detroit’s roster but a minor groin injury has so far limited him in camp. We wouldn’t be surprised to see the 18-year-old sent back to the QMJHL after getting in a couple of regular-season games with Detroit. Dennis Cholowski and Evgeni Svechnikov (OT winner) also scored.
Sep 22 - 9:45 PM

Anthony Beauvillier scored a couple of goals during Saturday’s 5-2 preseason win over the New York Rangers.

Beauvillier’s first goal was a shot through traffic while his second came in off the rush. He played tonight’s game alongside Mathew Barzal and Josh Bailey and can hold fantasy value as long as he’s alongside Barzal. Anders Lee, Ryan Pulock and Josh Bailey also scored in the win. Beauvillier is shaping into a fantasy sleeper and his situation going into the tail end of camp should be closely monitored.
Sep 22 - 9:40 PM

Kyle Turris got a couple of assists during Saturday’s 5-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Turris’ production slightly dipped after his move to Nashville last season and his game fail apart in the playoffs when he picked up only three assists in 13 games. He played tonight’s game with Calle Jarnkrok and Viktor Arvidsson but might start the season with different linemates. He’ll hold fantasy value and should be good for 55+ points this season if he remains healthy.

Charlie Coyle scored three goals during Saturday's 7-0 preseason win over the Colorado Avalanche.

Two of the three goals came less than six minutes apart in the second period. He also added another one in the third frame. The 26-year-old underwent surgery on both wrists back in May, so it's encouraging to see him produce in exhibition games. Coyle had 11 goals and 37 points in 66 games last season. He's capable of chipping in much more offensively. Jason Zucker, Matt Read, Mikko Koivu and Zach Parise also found the back of the net for Minnesota in the victory.
Sep 22 - 8:42 PM

Oliver Bjorkstrand scored three goals in Saturday's 7-3 preseason loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Bjorkstrand got the Blue Jackets on the board in the second frame when they were down 4-0 and he also cut his team's deficit to 5-3 in the third frame. The 23-year-old scored 11 goals and 40 points in his first full year in the NHL in 2017-18, so the Jackets will be expecting more from him in year two. He could flirt with the 50-point mark this year.

The New Jersey Devils have re-signed Miles Wood to a four-year deal worth $11 million.

The deal comes with an annual average value of $2.75 million. Wood is a strong, two-way forward who plays with a physical edge to his game. "We are excited to have Miles under contract for the next four years," said Devils GM Ray Shero. "With his style of play, he's a big part of what we are collectively building here in New Jersey, now and in the future." The 23-year-old had a career-high 19 goals and 32 points in 76 games with the Devils last season. He won't have any value in standard fantasy leagues, but he's an important part of the Devils roster.
Sep 22 - 5:11 PM

Daniel Sprong will skate on a line with Sidney Crosby during Saturday's preseason game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Sprong is arguably the Penguins' most talented prospect. He managed to pick up two goals and one assist in eight games with the Pens last season. He also added 32 goals and 65 points in 65 AHL games in 2017-18. If Sprong opens up the season on Crosby's line, he'll have a rock-solid fantasy value in all leagues. Jake Guentzel is the other forward skating on that line.
Sep 22 - 2:38 PM

Alex Galchenyuk (groin) could be dealing with a serious injury.

It was first reported that Galchenyuk missed practice due to a 'maintenance' day, but it appears to be much more than that. "Alex is going to meet with our medical team and undergo further evaluation," head coach Rick Tocchet said. "We’ll know something next week with him." Usually if a player is dealing with a minor injury, he'll be labeled as day-to-day but that doesn't appear to be the case here. Arizona's center depth will be tested with Dylan Strome (upper body) and Christian Dvorak (lower body) also banged up.
