Oscar Klefbom will be back in the lineup on Wednesday night.

Klefbom missed two games after he had a minor procedure on his ailing shoulder. He may have another procedure done soon to "clean up" his shoulder and at that point he'll be done for the rest of the season. Klefbom hasn't been right for most of the year, so it's strange that he's even still trying to play.

Sebastian Aho had two goals and two assists in Friday's 6-5 shootout loss to the Washington Capitals.

The Hurricanes managed to go up 4-1 on the Caps in the second period, but they also allowed their opponent to score four consecutive goals. Trailing 5-4 in the third frame, the 'Canes got the equalizing goal from captain Justin Williams with just over six minutes remaining in regulation. In the end, they ended up dropping the decision in the shootout. Aho finished the night with a power-play goal, a shorthanded goal, a power-play assist and an even-strength helper. The 21-year-old has seven points during his current four-game point streak. He's up to 11 goals and 33 points in 31 games this season. He's a must-own in all fantasy formats.
Dec 14 - 10:55 PM

Alex Ovechkin scored a hat trick in Friday's 6-5 shootout win over the Carolina Hurricanes.

This is the second consecutive game that Ovechkin has managed to score three goals. Two of the three goals came after the Caps were trailing 4-1 in the second period. In the end, Jakub Vrana managed to secure the victory in the shootout for Washington. Ovechkin finished the night with a plus-1 rating, two penalty minutes, five shots on goal and two hits in 21:10 of ice time. So much for his Stanley-Cup hangover. Ovechkin now has 28 goals in 31 games this season. He's on pace to score 74 goals in 2018-19. That won't happen, but what he's been able to do this season is nothing short of remarkable. He's the best goal scorer of this generation.
Dec 14 - 10:51 PM

Dylan Larkin found the back of the net during Friday's 4-2 loss to the Ottawa Senators.

The Red Wings were down 2-0 in the first period, but they managed to tie the game up thanks to goals by Luke Glendening and Larkin. Unfortunately for the Wings, the Sens scored two more in the third frame to go ahead 4-2. Larkin finished the night with four penalty minutes and eight shots on goal in 21:01 of ice time. Larkin has now scored in three consecutive games and he's riding a six-game point streak. The 22-year-old has 14 goals and 31 points in 33 games this season. He's a strong fantasy option in most leagues.
Dec 14 - 10:41 PM

Chris Tierney scored a pair of goals in Friday's 4-2 win over the Detroit Red Wings.

He finally put an end to his 10-game goalless drought. Tierney opened the scoring at the 8:19 mark of the first period, and he also put the game away with an empty-netter on the power play in the final minute of regulation. He finished the night with four shots on goal and three blocked shots in 20:42 of ice time. The 24-year-old has five goals and 22 points in 33 games with the Sens this season. He's not worth adding in any fantasy format.
Dec 14 - 10:38 PM

Zach Aston-Reese scored two goals and an assist in Friday's 5-3 win over the Boston Bruins.

Aston-Reese helped set up Phil Kessel's goal in the second frame before he scored a shorthanded tally before the end of the period. He then added an insurance marker late in the game. The Penguins had 2-0 and 3-1 leads in this one, but the Bruins managed to tie the game at three in the third frame. Thankfully for Pittsburgh, they were able to recover. Aston-Reese finished the night with a plus-2 rating, five shots on goal and nine hits in 14:13 of ice time. The 24-year-old has four goals and seven points in 18 games this season. He shouldn't pop up on your fantasy radar.
Dec 14 - 10:26 PM

Derek Stepan scored the overtime goal during Friday's 4-3 win over the New York Rangers.

The Rangers built up a 3-0 lead thanks to three power-play goals in the first two periods, but the Coyotes responded thanks to goals by Jordan Oesterle, Josh Archibald, Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Stepan, who managed to sink his former team. Stepan finished the night with two points, a plus-2 rating, three shots on goal and one hit in 20:09 of ice time. This was the veteran's first goal in 11 outings. He now has seven goals and 15 points in 31 games this season. The 28-year-old isn't worth owning in standard fantasy leagues.
Dec 14 - 10:14 PM

Nico Hischier scored a goal in Friday's 5-4 overtime win over the Vegas Golden Knights.

Hischier finished the game off just 41 seconds into overtime, when he deeked Marc-Andre Fleury before burying the puck. The fact that the Devils actually won this game was pretty impressive considering they were down 3-0 after the first period and 4-1 in the second frame. Hischier is now riding a four-game point streak. He has seven goals and 20 points in 26 contests. Travis Zajac, Miles Wood, Kyle Palmieri and Brett Seney also found the back of the bet for the Devils on Friday night.
Dec 14 - 9:55 PM

Tom Wilson (concussion) is set to return to the Capitals' lineup on Friday.

Wilson missed three straight games due to the head injury. He is projected to play alongside Evgeny Kuznetsov and Jakub Vrana. He has eight goals and 14 points in 11 contests this season.
Dec 14 - 5:26 PM

Pittsburgh will start Casey DeSmith Friday night.

DeSmith will try to bounce back after allowing four goals on 27 shots in a 6-3 loss to Chicago Wednesday night. He fell to 9-5-4 with a 2.43 GAA and .921 save percentage in 21 games.
Dec 14 - 3:40 PM

Cory Schneider will be the Devils' starter on Friday.

As previously reported, Keith Kinkaid will get the nod on Saturday. Schneider is still searching for his first win of the season. He's 0-5-1 with a 4.29 GAA and .862 save percentage in eight games.
Dec 14 - 3:37 PM

Paul Stastny will be back in the lineup on Friday night.

Stastny is slated to play between Alex Tuch and Oscar Lindberg. He has missed the last 30 games due to a lower-body injury. Stastny has appeared in just three games this season and he is still looking for his first point as a member of the Golden Knights.
