Buffalo GM Jason Botterill reportedly isn't shopping Ryan O'Reilly, but he is willing to listen to offers on players who aren't Jack Eichel or Casey Mittelstadt.

O'Reilly's name has come up in trade rumors this summer, but the Sabres may be wise to keep him around. A center group of Eichel, Mittelstadt and O'Reilly could provide Buffalo will strong depth down the middle going into 2018-19. However, if Buffalo can land a young top defenseman then they may be more willing to move someone like O'Reilly.

The Minnesota Wild have acquired Brad Hunt and a sixth-round pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft from the Vegas Golden Knights for a conditional fifth-round draft pick in 2019.

Hunt has been a healthy scratch in all but four of Vegas' last 33 contests. The 30-year-old has two goals and five assists in 13 games this season. He's been able to put up a decent amount of points at the pro level, but not many teams seem to trust his defensive ability.

Timo Meier scored a goal and an assist in Monday's 6-2 loss to the Florida Panthers.

Meier helped set up Logan Couture's game-tying goal in the second frame, before adding a game-tying goal of his own later on in the period. Meier finished the night with an even rating, two penalty minutes and two shots on goal in 15:27 of ice time. The 22-year-old has three points in his last two games. He's up to 19 goals and 44 points in 48 games this season.
Jan 21 - 10:01 PM

Frank Vatrano scored a goal and three helpers in Monday's 6-2 win over the San Jose Sharks.

Vatrano assisted on goals by Aaron Ekblad, Mike Matheson and Vincent Trocheck. His third-period goal gave the Panthers a 5-2 lead at the time. He finished the night with a plus-2 rating and five shots on goal in 13:30 of ice time. The 24-year-old now has at least one point in three straight games and he's picked up nine points in his last seven. He has 16 goals and 26 points in 47 games this season.
Jan 21 - 9:59 PM

Eric Staal scored a goal and an assist in Monday's 4-2 win over the Vegas Golden Knights.

Staal gave the Wild a 2-1 lead at the 10:22 mark of the second period. He also picked up an assist in Charlie Coyle's third-period marker. Staal finished the game with a plus-2 rating, two shots on goal and two hits in 18:36 of ice time. The 34-year-old has picked up six points in his last six games. He's up to 15 goals and 33 points in 48 games this season. Marcus Foligno and Mikko Koivu also scored for the Wild on Monday night.
Jan 21 - 9:10 PM

Marc-Edouard Vlasic (wrist) won't play Monday night.

Vlasic was considered to be an option when head coach Peter DeBoer met with the media earlier today, but he won't be back yet. The Sharks are back in action tomorrow night in Washington and the veteran blueliner will have another chance to suit up then. San Jose pulling him off of injured reserve will be the biggest sign that he is ready to suit up.
Jan 21 - 6:36 PM

Martin Jones will get the start in goal on Monday night when the San Jose Sharks face the Florida Panthers.

The Sharks are starting a back-to-back situation with Aaron Dell expected to get the call tomorrow in Washington. Jones will come into tonight's game with a 22-9-4 record, a 2.82 goals-against-average and a .899 save percentage.
Jan 21 - 6:31 PM

Mikko Koskinen signed a three-year, $13.5 million contract extension with the Edmonton Oilers.

Koskinen will earn $5.2 million next season, $3.8 million (including $500,000 in a signing bonus) in 2020-21, and $4.5 million in 2021-22. Koskinen, 30, made the move from the KHL to NHL this season and has a 14-10-1 record, 2.78 GAA, and .911 save percentage in 27 games. Given his mixed results and inconsistent play thus far, this contract seems like an overpayment, though it is still on the low-end for a starting goaltender. That is what this contract suggests Koskinen is now viewed as the number one goaltender. It's possible that the Oilers will still re-sign Cam Talbot too, but it's more likely that they'll try to trade him rather than let him walk as a UFA this summer, which isn't shocking given his struggles over the last two seasons.
Jan 21 - 5:31 PM

The St. Louis Blues will start Jordan Binnington Monday afternoon.

Binnington is getting another start right away after stopping 28 of 30 shots in a 3-2 win over Ottawa on Saturday. He improved to 4-0-1 with a 1.62 GAA and .936 save percentage in seven contests this season.
Jan 21 - 2:47 PM

Robin Lehner has been selected as the first star of the week.

Lehner posted a 0.67 GAA and .970 save percentage in three victories. That continues his incredible season. He has a 15-7-3 record, 2.02 GAA, and .930 save percentage in 26 contests.
Jan 21 - 2:27 PM

Erik Karlsson (lower body) won't play in Monday or Tuesday's games.

Those are the Sharks' final two contests before the All-Star break. It seems likely that Karlsson will also miss the All-Star Game given the circumstances, but the Sharks haven't said he can't play. "I have no idea what’s going on with that," Sharks coach Pete DeBoer said. "I just want to get him healthy. If he’s healthy enough, I would hope he’ll play and I know he would play. Let’s cross our fingers and hope that he’s healthy enough to play." Karlsson has three goals and 43 points in 47 games in 2018-19.
Jan 21 - 1:03 PM

Mitch Marner practiced on the top line with Auston Matthews during Monday's practice.

Marner is typically on a line with John Tavares, but the Maple Leafs have been struggling lately, so things have gotten mixed up. This could be an effort to spark Matthews, who has no goals and three assists in his last seven games. Patrick Marleau rounds out that top line. Zach Hyman and Kasperi Kapanen practiced with Tavares.
