The Detroit Red Wings are also in the mix for free-agent forward Ilya Kovalchuk, according to TSN's Darren Dreger.

Kovalchuk recently made visits with the Los Angeles Kings and San Jose Sharks. Detroit is also believed to be among the teams making a push for his services. He will make his return to the NHL in 2018-19 after spending the last five seasons in the KHL.

Alex Stalock is expected to start Thursday night.

Taylor Hall (lower body) will miss Thursday and Saturday's games.

After that, the Devils will be off for the All-Star break and a bye week, so Hall will get plenty of rest. He has 11 goals and 37 points in 33 contests this season.
Jan 17 - 12:47 PM

Collin Delia will play between the pipes on Thursday.

Delia will be going for his first win since Dec. 29. He has a 3-1-3 record with a 2.71 GAA and .932 save percentage in eight contests.

Curtis McElhinney will rest for a couple days due to a knee issue.

Expect McElhinney to miss at least Friday's game as a result. This will lead to a call up, but the Hurricanes haven't made that move yet. McElhinney is 11-6-1 with a 2.50 GAA and .914 save percentage in 18 contests.

Anthony Stolarz (lower body) has been sent to the AHL on a conditioning stint.

Stolarz was previously on the injured reserve list. Carter Hart has assumed the Flyers' starting gig, so it's not clear if Stolarz will have a role with the team after he's back up to speed. Given the way this season has gone for the Flyers, it will largely depend on what goaltenders happen to be healthy at that point.

Markus Granlund scored a goal and collected an assist on Brandon Sutter’s first period goal in a 3-2 shootout loss to the Oilers on Wednesday night.

Granlund was then the first Canucks’ shooter in the shootout, but missed his opportunity. The 25-year old has amassed eight goals and 17 points in 2018-19.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins collected two assists in Wednesday night’s 3-2 shootout win against the Canucks.

He collected his first assist on Khaira’s shorthanded goal and his second on McDavid’s powerplay goal, providing extra value for fantasy owners. His 2018-19 production is now up to 15 goals and 44 points.
Jan 17 - 1:55 AM

Michael Del Zotto was traded to the Ducks in return for Luke Schenn and a 2020 seventh round pick on Wednesday night.

The trade between the Canucks and Ducks occurred late Wednesday night. Del Zotto had been a healthy scratch for the last four games for the Canucks and only dressed once since December 6th, 2018. Perhaps Del Zotto may see more playing time in southern California, but even if he does, this trade should carry almost no fantasy impact.
Jan 17 - 1:06 AM

Kevin Labanc registered a goal and two assists in a 6-3 loss versus the Coyotes on Wednesday night.

Labanc scored the first goal for the Sharks to cut Arizona’s early 2-0 lead in half and later, with the score at 4-1, he collected assists on goals scored by Kane and Couture to cut the deficit to one goal. This season, Labanc has amassed five goals and 29 points.
Jan 17 - 12:50 AM

Jack Eichel scored the game-winning goal in overtime and added an assist in a 4-3 win over the Flames on Wednesday night.

Eichel collected an assist on Dahlin’s goal, which broke his five game pointless streak. He then proceeded to scoring the winner for his team in overtime just a minute into the extra frame. He has registered 16 goals and 51 points in 44 games this season.
Jan 17 - 12:28 AM

Johnny Gaudreau scored a goal and added an assist in a 4-3 overtime loss versus the Sabres on Wednesday night.

Gaudreau opened the scoring while on the powerplay with just 0.5 seconds remaining in the first period. Later with the score tied at one goal apiece, the 25-year old obtained the secondary assist on Tkachuk’s third period powerplay goal. In 48 games this season, Gaudreau has amassed 28 goals and 71 points, and sits tied for second in NHL scoring.
