The Los Angeles Kings acquired Peter Budaj from the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for Andy Andreoff.

Budaj is returning to Los Angeles, where he excelled in 2016-17 while Jonathan Quick was injured. He wasn't particularly effective with Tampa Bay though, posting a 3.76 GAA and .876 save percentage in eight games last season. For the Lightning, this clears up his $1,025,000 cap hit for 2018-19 and for Los Angeles, this adds a potential alternative backup goaltender to Jack Campbell to the mix.

Andrei Vasilevskiy will start Thursday night against Toronto.

Vasilevskiy will play for the first time since Nov. 10. He has recovered from the left foot fracture that kept him out of the lineup and coach Jon Cooper isn't wasting time getting him back into action. "He's got to get that first one in at some point," said Cooper. "There was a thought we might play him the prior game, but get him a really good practice yesterday, he did really well so tonight's the night." Vasilevskiy has a 9-3-1 record this season with a 2.30 GAA and .927 save percentage.
Dec 13 - 11:41 AM

Ondrej Kase scored his team’s first three goals of Wednesday night’s contest and the Ducks beat the Stars by a score of 6-3.

The hat trick marked the second straight three point game for the 23-year old winger. He has now amassed eight goals and 14 points in 15 games this season.
Dec 13 - 12:46 AM

Sean Couturier picked up two goals and one assist in Wednesday's 6-5 overtime loss to the Calgary Flames.

Couturier registered the primary assist on James van Riemsdyk's power-play goal in the second period (2-2). He then added the go-ahead goal (3-2) less than a minute later, and his shorthanded marker gave the Flyers a 5-3 lead in the third frame. Philly held on to that two-goal late into the third period, but Calgary managed to tie the game thanks to two quick goals inside the final two minutes of regulation. Johnny Gaudreau then won the game in overtime for Calgary. Couturier has 12 goals and 23 points in 27 games this season.
Dec 12 - 11:45 PM

With the Flames down 5-3 with just over one minute remaining in regulation, Gaudreau helped set up Rasmus Andersson's goal (5-4) before Monahan was able to force overtime. Gaudreau ended the game just 35 seconds into the extra frame. The 25-year-old now has 13 goals and 42 points in 32 games this season. The Flames forward has five multi-point efforts in his last six outings.
Dec 12 - 11:41 PM

Bryan Rust scored a hat trick in Wednesday's 6-3 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks.

This was a pretty impressive performance from a player that had just one goal in 29 games coming into this one. Rust was all over the ice on Wednesday night. Not only did he finish the game with three goals, but he also fired eight shots on net. Rust's first goal made it 2-1, his second made it 2-2 and his third tally tied the game at three. The 26-year-old has four goals and 10 points in 30 games this season.
Dec 12 - 10:59 PM

Jonathan Toews scored a goal and two assists in Wednesday's 6-3 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins.

He also added an empty-netter and he helped set up Brandon Saad's empty-net tally. Toews finished the night with a plus-3 rating, two penalty minutes and one shot on goal in 18:38 of ice time. The 30-year-old has 14 goals and 27 points in 33 games this season.
Dec 12 - 10:55 PM

Mathew Barzal picked up two assists in Wednesday's 3-2 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights.

The Islanders were down 1-0 in this one, but they went up 2-1 thanks to goals by Anthony Beauvillier and Adam Pelech. Unfortunately for the Isles, they weren't able to hang on to the lead. Barzal has picked up four assists in his last three games, but he hasn't found the back of the net since Nov. 23 (11 games). The 21-year-old has three goals and 25 points in 30 games this season. Even though his goal total is low, he's still worth using in standard fantasy leagues.
