Filip Zadina has signed an entry-level contract with the Detroit Red Wings.

Detroit took Zadina with the sixth overall pick in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. He was projected to go earlier than that and this might end up being a steal of a pick for Detroit. It's worth noting that there is some confusion over what leagues he's eligible to play in next season. He moved from the Czech league to the QMJHL's Halifax Mooseheads for the 2017-18 campaign and there's some question as to whether his Czech team loaned him there. If he was playing in the QMJHL on loan, then he falls under the rules of a European player and can play in the AHL next season, but if not then he would have to play in the QMJHL next season if he doesn't make the Detroit Red Wings' opening game roster. The NHL is looking into the matter.

The 24-year-old also helped set up goals by Dylan Larkin and Thomas Vanek in the third period. The 24-year-old had 16 goals and 33 points in 71 games last season. Seth Jones suffered a lower-body injury in Tuesday's game against the Buffalo Sabres.

Jones left in the game in the second period and did not return. The club didn't provide an update on his status after the game. Head coach John Tortorella told the media that Jones would be reevaluated tomorrow. Losing him for an extended period of time would be devastating for the Blue Jackets. We'll consider him day-to-day for now.

The 26-year-old is entering the final year of his contract. There's been a lot talk about Panarin wanting out of Columbus, so it'll be interesting to see how this season goes for him and this team.
