Anthony Mantha has signed a two-year, $6.6 million contract with the Detroit Red Wings.

Mantha scored 24 goals and 48 points in 80 games this season. Those numbers were a step up from his 2016-17 totals, but he should develop further so it makes sense that he ended up with a bridge contract. Mantha was a restricted free agent this summer and he will be again after this deal expires.

Troy Stecher has signed a two-year, $4.65 million contract with the Vancouver Canucks.

Stecher had an arbitration hearing scheduled for July 29 that the two sides have successfully avoided. He had a goal and 11 points in 68 contests last season. The blueliner also had 111 hits and 75 blocks while averaging 18:49 minutes. "Troy Stecher is an important part of our team," said Canucks GM Jim Benning. "He's a talented two-way defenseman who competes every shift. Troy has a willingness to always improve his game and is an example of a young player committed to being a professional."
Jul 20 - 2:31 PM

Adam Lowry has signed a three-year, $8.75 million contract with the Winnipeg Jets.

That's a significant jump from his previous two-year, $2.25 million contract. The Jets and Lowry managed to avoid an arbitration hearing, which was scheduled for Sunday. He scored eight goals and 21 points in 45 games last season.
Jul 19 - 4:06 PM

Chris Tierney has signed a two-year, $5.875 million contract with the San Jose Sharks.

Tierney had an arbitration hearing scheduled for July 20 in case the two sides couldn't reach an agreement before then. This is a big raise over his previous salary of $735,000, but that makes sense given that he scored 17 goals and 40 points in 82 games last season.
Jul 18 - 12:14 PM

Ryan Pulock has signed a two-year contract with the New York Islanders.

Pulock scored 10 goals and 32 points in 68 games last season. He was a restricted free agent this summer. The Islanders didn't disclose the financial terms of the deal and they weren't otherwise available at the time of writing.
Jul 17 - 5:03 PM

Jimmy Vesey has signed a two-year, $4.55 million contract with the New York Rangers.

Vesey had an arbitration hearing scheduled for July 30 that's now moot. He will earn $2.2 million in 2018-19 and $2.35 million in the second season of the deal. He had 17 goals and 28 points in 79 games last season, so he'll need to step up significantly if he's going to earn a long-term contract at the end of this bridge deal.
Jul 17 - 4:26 PM

Juuse Saros has signed a three-year, $4.5 million contract with the Nashville Predators.

Saros was a restricted free agent this summer. He posted a 2.45 GAA and .925 save percentage in 26 contests in 2017-18. Over the last two seasons, Saros has emerged as one of the league's better backups, so this is a pretty solid contract for Nashville. Keep in mind that Pekka Rinne is entering the final season of his current contract and will turn 36-years-old in November, so Saros might be tested as the Predators' starter before this deal is over.
Jul 16 - 4:07 PM

Adam Henrique has signed a five-year, $29.125 million contract extension with the Anaheim Ducks.

Henrique will play out the final season of his six-year, $24 million contract before this new deal takes effect. He could have become an unrestricted free agent in 2019. Henrique scored 24 goals and 50 points in 81 games with New Jersey and Anaheim last season. It was the third time in his career that he's reached the 50-point milestone.
Jul 16 - 1:25 PM

Elias Lindholm has signed a six-year, $29.1 million contract with the Calgary Flames.

In other words, Lindholm will come with a $4.85 million cap hit going forward. The Flames are taking a risk here, but not a bad one. Lindholm had 16 goals and 44 points in 81 contests last season and the 23-year-old's career-high was 45 points, so by that measurement this is an over payment. However, he still has significant offensive upside and if he lives up to his potential then this might end up looking like a steal.

Ray Emery drowned while swimming with friends Sunday morning.

Emery was just 35-years-old. He started his career with the Ottawa Senators and went on to also play for the Philadelphia Flyers, Anaheim Ducks, and Chicago Blackhawks. At one point his career was in jeopardy due to avascular necrosis, but he underwent hip surgery and was able to continue playing. He was a Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy nominee in 2011 in recognition of what he had to overcome. He also helped Chicago win the Jennings Trophy in 2013 by posting a 1.94 GAA and .922 save percentage in 21 contests. We'd like to extend our condolences to Emery's friends and family.
Jul 15 - 4:48 PM

Phillip Danault has signed a three-year, $9.249 million contract with the Montreal Canadiens.

Danault had eight goals and 25 points in 52 games last season. He had an arbitration hearing scheduled on July 20, so Montreal and Danault were coming on the deadline to agree to terms in order to avoid getting the arbitrator involved.
Jul 15 - 3:13 PM

Oliver Bjorkstrand has signed a three-year contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Columbus didn't reveal the financial terms of Bjorkstrand's contract, but it's reportedly worth a total of $7.5 million. He scored 11 goals and 40 points in 82 contests last season. Bjorkstrand was a restricted free agent after completing his entry-level contract.
