Jean-Gabriel Pageau suffered a torn Achilles tendon on Thursday and he is expected to miss a minimum of six months.

Pageau underwent surgery Thursday night after he was injured during training. The two-way center had 14 goals and 29 points in 78 games last season. Pageau was slated to compete for a second-line spot at training camp, but now that position will probably go to newcomer Chris Tierney, who was acquired from San Jose in the Erik Karlsson trade.

Jonathan Bernier will indeed start Saturday afternoon against New Jersey.

Bernier has a 2-3-0 record this season with a 3.92 goals-against average and .891 save percentage in six appearances. He last played on Nov. 10 in a 4-3 shootout win over Carolina when he stopped 49 shots.
Nov 17 - 11:28 AM

Nico Hischier (upper body) isn't ready to play on Saturday.

Hischier won't be back against Detroit despite getting back on the ice for Friday's practice. He is day-to-day with an upper-body injury.
Nov 17 - 11:22 AM

Patrice Bergeron's status is unclear for Saturday's game against Arizona after he suffered an upper-body injury on Friday night.

Bergeron stayed in the game against Dallas after he went head-first into the sideboards. "He'll be evaluated better in the morning ... he was having a tough time finishing the game," coach Bruce Cassidy said after the contest. "It would lead me to believe he'll have a tough time playing tomorrow. But he's also a tough guy. We'll see how it is."
Nov 17 - 12:17 AM

Tyler Toffoli scored a goal in Friday's 2-1 shootout win over the Chicago Blackhawks.

Toffoli picked up a turnover in the neutral zone, made a great move at the Chicago blue line before his shot went off 'Hawks defenseman Duncan Keith and into the net. This was the Kings forward's first point in four games. He finished the night with a plus-1 rating, three shots on goal and three takeaways in 19:28 of ice time. The 26-year-old is up to five goals and five assists in 18 games this season. Ilya Kovalchuk and Anze Kopitar both scored in the shootout to give the Kings a much-needed victory.
Nov 16 - 11:45 PM

Ben Bishop turned aside all 23 shots he faced in Friday's 1-0 overtime win over the Boston Bruins.

Bishop also found a way to get Brad Marchand off his game. The Stars netminder winced in pain after Marchand gave him the lightest of taps on the leg. The nearest official blew the whistle and assessed a two-minute penalty and a 10-game misconduct to Marchand. In the end, Jason Dickinson scored the game's only goal less than two minutes into overtime. Bishop now owns a 7-5-1 record with a 2.40 goals-against-average and a .920 save percentage this season. This was the first time in four outings that he allowed fewer than three goals.
Nov 16 - 11:35 PM

Kyle Connor found the back of the net in Friday's 2-1 shootout loss to the Buffalo Sabres.

Connor received a pass from Patrik Laine on a two-on-one break before he beat Sabres goalie Carter Hutton. The 21-year-old has scored in back-to-back games and in three of his last four outings. He's also riding a four-game point streak. Connor and Laine both managed to score in the shootout, but the Jets came up just short in their quest for two points tonight. Connor has nine goals and seven assists in 18 games this season. He's on pace to score 41 goals and 73 points, which would surpass his career-high of 31 goals and 57 points from last year.
Nov 16 - 11:15 PM

Jeff Skinner scored a goal in Friday's 2-1 shootout win over the Winnipeg Jets.

Skinner's power-play goal 53 seconds into the third period tied the game at one. He's now scored at least one goal in four consecutive games, and he's found the back of the net eight times in his last seven contests. The 26-year-old has fit in nicely with his new team, as he's up to 14 goals and 21 points in 19 games this season. Skinner is a making the most of his contract year. He's a must-start in all fantasy formats right now. Jack Eichel, Jason Pominville and Conor Sheary managed to score in the shootout to secure the win for the Sabres.
Nov 16 - 11:10 PM

The NHL has issued Josh Archibald a two-game suspension.

Archibald is being suspended for hitting Nashville's Ryan Hartman in the head. The NHL felt that Archibald made the head the primary point of contact and that head contact was avoidable. Archibald is eligible to return on Nov. 23.

Brayden Schenn (upper body) will make his return on Friday.

Schenn has missed St. Louis' last four games. Alexander Steen won't play due to an upper-body injury, so Schenn will play alongside Steen's linemates of Robby Fabbri and Tyler Bozak.
Nov 16 - 4:32 PM

Alexander Steen has sustained an upper-body injury.

Steen missed Friday's practice and won't play tonight. He has five goals and 10 points in 16 contests this season. The silver lining for the Blues is that Brayden Schenn is making his return, so he'll play with Robby Fabbri and Tyler Bozak instead of Steen.
Nov 16 - 4:30 PM

The New York Rangers have acquired Ryan Strome from the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for Ryan Spooner.

Strome has a goal and an assist in 18 games this season. With the book closed on Strome's tenure with Edmonton, we can safely say that Oilers GM Peter Chiarelli's trade of Jordan Eberle to the Islanders for Strome was a misstep. Perhaps Strome will do better with the Rangers, but we wouldn't count on him breaking out at this point.
