Artemi Panarin scored a goal and assisted on two others during a 5-4 win over the Florida Panthers.

Panarin started off his night with the primary assist on Zach Werenski’s first of the season. The Russian’s goal came after an incredible sequence of saves by his goaltender, Joonas Korpisalo, before Pierre-Luc Dubois poked the puck to Panarin who scored on a breakaway. Panarin then followed that up with the primary assist on Anthony Duclair’s power play goal in a wild second period. The Blue Jackets then used two third period goals from Booner Jenner and Cam Atkinson to come away victorious in this one. The 26-year-old Panarin is in the last year of his contract and has started off the season with three goals and six points in four games.

The St. Louis Blues have decided to scratch Jay Bouwmeester for Saturday night's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Bouwmeester has struggled this season, picking up one assist and a minus-four rating in six games. Jakub Jerabek and Robert Thomas will also sit.

Jeff Skinner had a hat trick in Buffalo's 5-1 win over Los Angeles on Saturday.

Skinner got off to a slow start with the Sabres, but he has four goals and six points in his last four games. Jason Pominville also came up big with a goal and two assists. Zach Bogosian netted the Sabres' other goal. Jack Eichel assisted on three of Buffalo's five goals.
Oct 20 - 6:19 PM

Charlie McAvoy won't be available for Saturday's game in Vancouver.

McAvoy is instead returning to Boston for testing because he "hasn't been feeling right," according to Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy. That's vague, but Cassidy said that's because the team isn't sure what's going on yet. McAvoy did have a cardiac ablation to address an abnormal heartbeat that resulted in him missing a couple weeks in January, but we don't know yet if that has anything to do with his current issue.
Oct 20 - 5:09 PM

Jacob Markstrom will start for Vancouver Saturday night.

It will be Markstrom's first start since Oct. 9. He struggled out of the gate with a 4.02 GAA and .883 save percentage in three games, so hopefully the time off did him some good.
Oct 20 - 2:31 PM

Linus Ullmark will start for Buffalo Saturday afternoon.

Ullmark earned a 36-save shutout in his first start on Oct. 13. Despite that, he hasn't played since. Carter Hutton has gotten off to a somewhat shaky start, so there is an opportunity for Ullmark to earn some more playing time if he is able to build off his strong season debut.
Oct 20 - 2:27 PM

Pekka Rinne (undisclosed) has been placed on injured reserve.

Rinne was forced to leave Friday's game with an undisclosed injury. He probably wouldn't have started on Saturday even if he was healthy, but moving him to the IR list also rules him out for Tuesday and Thursday's contests.
Oct 20 - 2:03 PM

Curtis McElhinney is expected to start Saturday afternoon.

McElhinney has a 2.64 GAA and .900 save percentage in three contests this season. The start time is 1:00 p.m. ET, so remember to get in your lineup changes now if you need to make adjustments.
Oct 20 - 12:14 PM

Cory Schneider (hip) is expected to start Saturday night in the AHL.

As previously mentioned, Schneider has been sent to Binghamton on a conditioning stint. Playing in the AHL will allow him to shake off the rust before making his NHL season debut. "I want to just see him get through a game and see how he responds to that," Devils coach John Hynes said of Schneider's upcoming AHL start. "Play 60 minutes, be in more read and react situations. We’ve seen him in practice but it’s important for him to play in a live game situation against another opponent where the score at the end of the game does matter."
Oct 20 - 9:30 AM

Sheldon Rempal practiced with Ilya Kovalchuk and Jeff Carter on Friday.

Rempal also spent the better part of Thursday's contest on a line with the two skilled veterans. Thursday's contest ended up being a disaster for Los Angeles, but it looks like that line will stay intact. Rempal had four goals and eight points in four AHL games before he was summoned on Wednesday.
Oct 20 - 9:24 AM

There's a good chance that Ryan Getzlaf (groin) will play on Saturday.

Getzlaf took part in Friday's practice and skated alongside Isac Lundestrom and Rickard Rakell. Getzlaf has been out for five consecutive games due to the injury.
Oct 20 - 8:38 AM

Pekka Rinne (undisclosed) suffered an undisclosed injury in the third period of Friday's game at Calgary.

Rinne appeared to be shaken up after a collision, and he left with just under 15 minutes to go in a 3-3 game. Juuse Saros took over and was tested immediately at point-blank range after the officials did not allow him to take any warm-up shots. Saros was expected to start Saturday in Edmonton, so now he'll get a little warm-up before that outing.
