Jake Guentzel notched three goals on a team-high seven shots with a minor penalty and two hits in Saturday's 7-4 road victory against the Anaheim Ducks.

Guentzel posted the second regular-season hat trick of his career, and he also has two in the playoffs. Those four hatties have him tied for third place on the franchise's all-time list for players in their first three NHL seasons. The Omaha kid has managed five goals with eight points during his five-game point streak in the month of January.

Micheal Ferland was a late scratch prior to Sunday's game against the Edmonton Oilers, and the Hurricanes are calling it an upper-body injury.

Earlier today, head coach Rod Brind'Amour said that Ferland "didn't feel great" but he was hopeful to have him in the lineup. We're hoping to have another update from the 'Canes post-game.

Updating a previous post, Michael Ferland will not dress on Sunday night against the Edmonton Oilers.

He missed the morning skate because he "didn't feel great" and skated out during warmups, but he is listed as a scratch on the official NHL roster report. We'll hopefully get an update post-game on his status. Haydn Fleury will draw into the lineup as a seventh defensemen.

Elias Pettersson produced one goal and one assist in Sunday's 3-2 win against Detroit.

Pettersson opened the scoring with his 23rd goal of the season at the 10:16 mark of the first period. He also had the primary helper on Bo Horvat's game-tying goal in third frame. Pettersson played the for the first time since Jan. 3 in the contest after recovering from a knee injury. Brock Boeser picked up two assists in the contest, while Antoine Roussel supplied the game winner.

Robin Lehner stopped all 19 shots he faced in a 3-0 win over Anaheim on Sunday.

Lehner only had five shots to deal with the first period and six in the third frame en route to his third shutout of the season. He has registered wins in each of his last three starts and he emerged victorious in 11 of his last 12 decisions.

Mikko Rantanen feels good to go for Monday afternoon's match against Nashville.

Rantanen was back on the ice for Sunday's practice after he left Saturday's game as a precaution. He scored two goals over 13:30 of ice time against Los Angeles to extend his point streak to three straight games prior to his exit.

Patrick Kane generated two goals and three assists in Sunday's 8-5 win against Washington.

Kane extended his point streak to eight consecutive games at the 7:56 mark of the first period when he scored his 28th goal of the season. He added a power-play tally and three assists during the third period. Kane has compiled 41 assists in 49 games this year.

Gardiner, who is listed as day-to-day, has contributed one assist in the last nine games. He has 24 points in 47 matches this season. Toronto has one more game after Sunday before the All-Star break.

Jonathan Toews amassed five points, including a hat trick, in Sunday's 8-5 victory versus Washington.

Toews had two points in the first period when the Blackhawks chased Capitals goaltender Braden Holtby from the crease and led 3-1 going into the second stanza. He scored another two goals and added an assist during the third frame. Toews has reached the 20-goal plateau for 12 straight seasons.

Bernier hasn't played since Jan. 11 when he gave up three goals on 26 shots in a 4-2 loss to Winnipeg. He has posted a 5-11-2 record this year with a 3.54 goals-against average and .892 save percentage

Pettersson missed five games due to a slight sprain in his MCL. The 20-year-old rookie has been outstanding this season with 22 goals and 42 points in 38 games. Get him back in your lineup.

Chad Johnson will be in the crease for Sunday's afternoon match against the New York Islanders.

Johnson hasn't played since Dec. 27 when he lost a game in relief against San Jose. This will be his second start as a member of the Ducks and he will play against Robin Lehner and the Islanders in a battle of former Buffalo Sabres goalies.
