Joonas Korpisalo allowed one goal on 33 shots in Saturday's 2-1 overtime win over the Washington Capitals.

Korpisalo was having a great outing, holding a 1-0 lead for almost the entire game until Evgeny Kuznetsov beat him through traffic off a one-timer with 66 seconds left in regulation. Luckily for Korpisalo, he was able to still get the win in the extra frame when Artemi Panarin got the winner. Korpisalo will see his record improve to 8-2-2 with a 3.08 goals-against-average and a .898 save percentage. A bad outing from Sergei Bobrovsky tomorrow night against the New York Rangers could open the door to Korpisalo making more starts in the short term.

Chad Johnson will be in the crease for Sunday's afternoon match against the New York Islanders.

Johnson hasn't played since Dec. 27 when he lost a game in relief against San Jose. This will be his second start as a member of the Ducks and he will play against Robin Lehner and the Islanders in a battle of former Buffalo Sabres goalies.
Jan 20 - 2:36 PM

Robin Lehner will be between the pipes for Sunday's game against Anaheim.

Micheal Ferland did not skate Sunday morning and it's unclear if he will be available to play against Edmonton.

"He just woke up today and didn't feel great," coach Rod Brind'Amour said. "... Hopefully he'll be ready to go tonight." If he can play then it's projected he will be alongside Lucas Wallmark and Teuvo Teravainen.
Jan 20 - 2:32 PM

Cory Schneider has been sent to Binghamton of the AHL on a conditioning loan assignment.

Schneider will still be counted on New Jersey's roster, but he will practice with the club's minor-league affiliate on Sunday. He was just activated from injured reserve on Saturday after recovering from an abdominal strain. The Devils don't play again until Jan. 28.
Jan 20 - 1:15 PM

Drake Caggiula is projected to start Sunday's game alongside Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews.

Caggiula was alongside the talented duo during Sunday's pregame warmups. He has one assist in six games with Chicago since he was acquired from Edmonton.

Washington coach Todd Reirden has moved Evgeny Kuznetsov to the third line.

Kuznetsov practiced on the third unit Saturday, centering Andre Burakovsky and Brett Connolly. "Even-strength goals from him are not where they're used to being and have been in the past," Reirden said. "For me, it's getting his game back to where it was to start the year. In talking to him, it's finding a way to do that. He obviously got off to that tremendous start and then was continuing to play fairly well and then has the injury, and I just don't really feel like he's gotten back to how he's started the year yet." Kuznetsov has eight goals and 38 points in 41 games but has only a goal and six assists in his last 15 games.

Erik Karlsson was a late scratch Saturday due to a lower-body injury.

The defenseman was hurt Tuesday night but played Wednesday. He was seen limping after the game and tried to play Saturday but it was determined after the warmup skate that he would be unable to go. Karlsson could miss Monday and Tuesday games to give some additional time to recover, as the Sharks don't return to game action until February 2. Karlsson has three goals and 43 points this season in 47 games.

Johnny Gaudreau scored once and added an assist to extend his point streak to 11 straight games.

Gaudreau is having a career season with 29 goals and 73 points in 50 games and he has been especially hot of late with 10 goals and 23 points in the 11-game streak. The talented winger's career high is 84 and he should smash that mark in the first or second week in February unless he has a long slump. He is second in points in the NHL and is in the race for the Hart Trophy.

Jonathan Marchessault posted three goals in Saturday's 7-3 victory against the Pittsburgh Penguins for his second-career hat trick.

Marchessault picked up the first hat trick of the season for the Golden Knights, and the third in franchise history. It was his first since March 25, 2017 when he was a member of the Florida Panthers. Marchessault needed this, as he had just one goal and no assists over his first seven contests in the month of January, and it was his first multi-point game since Dec. 14 in New Jersey. Don't be discouraged, however, as he has the ability to make up for lost time in a hurry. Marchessault should be started through thick and thin in all fantasy pools.

Aaron Ekblad scored a goal and assisted on another in Saturday’s 4-2 win over the Nashville Predators

Ekblad took a slick behind the back feed from Vincent Trocheck before blasting home a one-timer to open the scoring. Ekblad then followed that up with the primary assist on a nice passing play to double Florida’s advantage via Frank Vatrano. The goal scored by Ekblad made him Florida’s franchise leader in goals by a defenseman (62), passing Robert Svehla. Vincent Trocheck and Jared McCann also scored in the win.
Jan 19 - 10:45 PM

Mika Zibanejad scored two goals in Saturday’s 3-2 win over the Boston Bruins.

The game was all tied up in the second frame when Zibanejad tipped home Brady Skjei’s shot to give the Rangers the lead. Brad Marchand tied things up in the third but Zibanejad got his second of the night, this time off a power play to give the Rangers the win. The 25-year-old Swedish center will see his point streak extend to five games, with five goals in his last three games to bring him to 17 goals and 44 points in 48 games this season.
