Garrett Jones had a big day at the plate Friday against the Mets, going 3-for-5 with a three-run homer and two runs scored.

Jones also doubled twice. The three-run shot was originally ruled as in play, but it was switched to a home run after instant replay review. Fortunately for the Pirates, the umpires got it right this time. With his pop against right-handers, Jones should continue to have value in mixed leagues which allow daily lineup changes. While he is coming along, he is still a long ways off from a return. If all goes well, he could join the Pirates' rotation in the early part of June. May 16

Karstens, currently working his way back from shoulder inflammation, gave up one run in three innings Monday in his first rehab outing with High-A Bradenton.
