Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti said Thursday that he has no plans to reach out to free agent Scott Rolen.
Some have speculated that the Dodgers could reach out to Rolen now that Hanley Ramirez (thumb) will be out until late-May, but they plan to move ahead with internal options. As of now, Luis Cruz is likely to fill in at shortstop while Juan Uribe, Nick Punto and Jerry Hairston, Jr. will alternate at third base. Dee Gordon could also be an option at shortstop.

Reds general manager Walt Jocketty announced Tuesday that the club will not be re-signing Scott Rolen.
Rolen still hasn't decided whether or not he wants to continue his playing career, and the Reds are going to move along without him. The 37-year-old said in a statement that he wants to keep his "options open." He batted just .245/.318/.398 last season for Cincinnati.

John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer writes that some sort of announcement on Scott Rolen is "supposed to" be made Tuesday afternoon.
The exact nature of the announcement isn't yet clear, but Reds general manager Walt Jocketty has expressed interest in bringing Rolen back in a diminished role. Meanwhile, the 37-year-old third baseman has yet to decide whether he'll continue his career.

Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti said on MLB Network on Wednesday that Scott Rolen will "probably end up some other place than Los Angeles."
It's not a big surprise, as Colletti said on MLB Network Radio on Tuesday that he isn't having any conversations with Rolen and feels "pretty well set" with his roster. The Reds probably represent his best chance at continuing his career, but the 37-year-old has yet to make a decision on his plans for 2013.

It's merely a procedural move. Ludwick has been ruled out until early July with a torn labrum in his right shoulder.

The Reds have determined that Chris Heisey's hamstring aggravation was not severe.
"It wasn’t horrendous," assistant general manager Bob Miller said. "He tweaked it." Heisey won't return until the next homestand, which runs from May 24-28, at the earliest. It's certainly possible his absence could stretch into June.

Johnny Cueto (lat, oblique) has been cleared to return to the Reds' rotation on Monday in New York.
Cueto threw five shutout innings Tuesday in a rehab start with the Low-A Daytona Dragons and deemed himself fully healthy afterward. He was placed on the disabled list April 15 with a strained right lat and then later began experiencing oblique soreness. But all is well now. The Reds haven't decided whether Mike Leake or Tony Cingrani will be demoted to clear a rotation spot.

No word on the timeline for his return, but he'll likely make at least one more appearance before being activated. Parra has an 8.10 ERA and 7/3 K/BB ratio over 6 2/3 innings prior to going down with a strained left pectoral muscle at the end of April.

Masset is still recovering from right shoulder surgery, and he was recently shut down after suffering a setback. The right-hander hasn't pitched since 2011.
