According to the Boston Globe, 36-year-old reliever Keith Foulke is hoping to make it back to the major leagues.
Foulke is currently pitching for the Newark Bears of the independent Atlantic League. "Any big league city is better than being here," he said Tuesday. "I'd even play for the Yankees. I still think I have something to offer." Foulke posted a 4.06 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 23/13 K/BB ratio with the A's in 2008, but wasn't offered a contract by a single MLB club this winter.

Athletics activated RHP Keith Foulke from the 15-day disabled list.
Whether Foulke can stay healthy the rest of the way figures to play a huge role in his plans for 2009. He has a 3.81 ERA in the 26 innings that he's been able to pitch this season.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports that Keith Foulke (shoulder) is "likely" to come off the disabled list Tuesday.
Out since early July, Foulke pitched a scoreless inning at rookie-ball Wednesday.

It's a procedural move to open up a 40-man roster spot. Sizemore underwent his second major knee surgery in two years last week and will not play this season.

An X-ray on Jed Lowrie's right foot came back clean.
Lowrie was injury Tuesday when he was hit by a Yu Darvish pitch. He won't play Wednesday but should be back in the lineup Friday following Thursday's off day.

Hiroyuki Nakajima (hamstring) is expected to be added to the major league roster when his 20-day rehab window expires on Wednesday.
Nakajima is batting just .250 with a .313 on-base percentage at Triple-A Sacramento, but he's made strides defensively and has also showed he can play second and third base. His role with the big club figures to be limited.

Josh Reddick (wrist) will try taking batting practice on Friday.
If it goes well, he'll be cleared to begin a rehab assignment. Reddick discussed last week the possibility of surgery on his right wrist, but he's been able to take dry swings with no issues. If he doesn't suffer any setbacks, it seems possible that he could be activated sometime next week.

Brett Anderson was diagnosed with a navicular stress fracture of his right foot and will be shut down for four weeks.
Rough news for Anderson, who just can't seem to stay healthy. The 25-year-old southpaw is set to be reevaluated after four weeks, so his actual return to the Athletics likely won't be until around the early part of July. Dan Straily is filling his spot in the rotation for now, but the A's could turn to Sonny Gray if he continues to struggle.

Rodriguez will miss the entire 2013 season. The 28-year-old had a 5.37 and 78/34 K/BB ratio over 70 1/3 innings last season with the Astros and was acquired in February's Jed Lowrie deal.
