Bronson Arroyo rattled off 7 2/3 scoreless innings to help the Reds blank the Phillies on Saturday.
Alfredo Simon finished off the combined shutout with 1 1/3 scoreless frames. Arroyo scattered four singles and a double, striking out six. He'll carry a 4-4 record, 3.28 ERA and 1.11 WHIP into his next scheduled start against the light-hitting Cubs and makes for a fine option right now in all standard mixed fantasy leagues.

Bronson Arroyo had his stuff working Sunday, tossing 6 2/3 scoreless innings in a 5-1 win over the Brewers.
Arroyo gave up just five hits, walked one and struck out five. He exited in the seventh inning with runners at the corners, but Sam LeCure came on to strike out Jeff Bianchi to end the threat. Arroyo had been winless since April 15, though he certainly pitched well enough to win a couple times over that stretch. He'll face the Phillies over the weekend.

Bronson Arroyo held the Cardinals to two runs over seven frames Tuesday but fell to 2-3 on the season.
Arroyo didn't record a single strikeout, but he gave up only six hits and walked one, needing just 78 pitches to cover the seven innings. Unfortunately for the crafty right-hander, he left a curveball up in the sixth inning and Matt Holliday lined it into the seats for a two-run homer. Arroyo will take a solid 3.95 ERA and 1.07 WHIP into next week's start versus the Braves.

Bronson Arroyo gave up two runs in eight innings Saturday in a no-decision against the Marlins.
Arroyo pitched well in the favorable matchup, limiting the Marlins to just six hits and a walk while notching a season-high six strikeouts. However, a two-spot in the fifth inning was enough to cost him a chance at the victory. The veteran right-hander has a 3.54 ERA through his first four starts, but he won't have it as easy when he faces the Nationals next Thursday.

Reds transferred OF Ryan Ludwick from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
It's merely a procedural move. Ludwick has been ruled out until early July with a torn labrum in his right shoulder.

Reds trainer Paul Lessard said Wednesday that Chris Heisey (hamstring) is able to job at about "80 percent effort."
Heisey landed on the disabled list in late April due to a hamstring strain and aggravated the injury during a rehab assignment last week. His absence is expected to stretch into June.

Manny Parra (pectoral) struck out two in a scoreless inning Monday in his first rehab appearance with Double-A Pensacola.
No word on the timeline for his return, but he'll likely make at least one more appearance before being activated. Parra has an 8.10 ERA and 7/3 K/BB ratio over 6 2/3 innings prior to going down with a strained left pectoral muscle at the end of April.

Nick Masset (shoulder) is throwing from a distance of 120 feet.
Masset had shoulder surgery last September and was shut down in April after experiencing a setback with his throwing program. While he's making progress, he has yet to throw from a mound. There's no clear timetable for his return.
