Treanor will get a $150,000 buyout and is poised to become a free agent. The 36-year-old backstop batted just .175 with two homers and a .563 OPS in 122 plate appearances with the Dodgers this season.

If it's a strained oblique, he's unlikely to be available for the final two games. Tim Federowicz will back up A.J. Ellis on Tuesday night against San Francisco.

Matt Treanor went 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI in Saturday's win over the Cubs.
It was just his sixth start of the season, as Treanor's playing time has been limited with A.J. Ellis faring well. The 36-year-old career backup won't make any noise in fantasy even if injury forces him into a bigger role.

Dodgers signed C Matt Treanor to a one-year, $850,000 contract.
The contract also includes a $950,000 club option for 2013 or a $150,000 buyout. Treanor, 35, batted just .214/.338/.291 over 242 plate appearances between the Royals and Rangers this season. The Dodgers have Tim Federowicz on the cusp of the majors, but look for the veteran backstop to serve as the backup to A.J. Ellis in 2012.

Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said Carl Crawford's left hamstring strain is "fairly significant" and the outfielder will be out longer than 15 days.
Mattingly had said previously that he didn't think Crawford would miss as much as a month, so we're probably looking at around a three-week absence. Scott Van Slyke will continue seeing the bulk of the playing time in left field while Crawford is out.

Dodgers placed OF Scott Van Slyke on the 15-day disabled list with left shoulder bursitis.
Van Slyke initially suffered the injury in late May but had been playing through it. It's poor timing for Van Slyke, as he had been slated to receive regular at-bats while Carl Crawford and Matt Kemp were out. It's not clear how long he'll be sidelined.

Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti said on SiriusXM's MLB Network Radio on Tuesday that Matt Kemp (hamstring) is currently running at "75 percent without pain."
Kemp is making progress, but there's no timetable for him to begin a rehab assignment. The Dodgers have already ruled out his return until at least June 24, but it sounds like it will come later than that.

Josh Beckett said he'll undergo season-ending surgery if rest and rehab for a nerve issue in his pitching arm doesn't work.
The right-hander noted that he's "absolutely" confident he'll pitch this season, but there's a level of uncertainty involved. He'll be shut down for the next four weeks before trying to throw again. If Beckett does ultimately need an operation, he expects to be ready for next season.

The move clears a spot for Scott Van Slyke on the 40-man roster. Billingsley had season-ending Tommy John surgery last month and will likely miss the early part of 2014.

Elbert had a pair of surgeries on his elbow over the offseason, but obviously neither of them wound up working. The Dodgers are giving him a 12-16 month timetable, so it's possible he could miss all of 2014, as well.
