Miguel Montero hit a go-ahead grand slam in the eighth inning Saturday in the Cubs' win over the Dodgers in Game 1 of the NLCS.
Before this game, Cubs manager Joe Maddon said he wasn’t concerned about Montero’s back, which has bothered him throughout the season. After watching Montero smack a game-winning grand slam into the stratosphere, neither are we. Holy cow. With the game tied at three in the eighth inning, Joe Blanton walked to load the bases for Aroldis Chapman. Montero pinch-hit for Chapman and instantly became a playoff legend. It was only the third pinch-hit grand slam in postseason history. Blanton’s implosion continued in the next at-bat when he allowed a solo shot to Dexter Fowler. The eighth-inning explosion gave Bill Murray’s favorite team a 1-0 series lead. They’ll need it with Clayton Kershaw going for the Dodgers on Sunday. Sat, Oct 15, 2016 11:55:00 PM
