Yovani Gallardo allowed just three hits and two runs over six innings Wednesday, but two of his four walks came back to bite him in a loss to the Pirates.
Gallardo got a strikeout after Starling Marte's leadoff double in the sixth, but he then walked a pair of batters and Neil Walker made him pay with a two-RBI single. The right-hander struck out five on the night and, all things considered, it was a nice showing in what has been an up-and-down year. He'll take a 4.50 ERA and 1.46 WHIP into next week's start against the Dodgers.

Yovani Gallardo labored in Friday's start against the Reds, giving up three runs on five hits and five walks over four innings.
It was his shortest outing of the season. Gallardo really struggled with his control, throwing just 53 out of 100 pitches for strikes. With a 4.70 ERA and 1.50 WHIP through eight starts, Gallardo hasn't been able to get on a sustained roll in the early part of the season. He'll hope to be more efficient next week against the Pirates.

Yovani Gallardo surrendered four earned runs in six innings Saturday as the Brewers fell to the Cardinals.
Gallardo is now 1-10 with a 6.77 ERA in his career against St. Louis. He gave up six hits -- including home runs to Jon Jay and Allen Craig -- while watching his season ERA jump from 4.25 to 4.50. The right-hander has another tough matchup next week in Cincinnati.

Yovani Gallardo allowed two runs -- one earned -- in seven innings and homered Monday in the Brewers' 10-4 win over the Pirates.
The homer was Gallardo's second of this season and 12th in 319 career at-bats. He's also been better on the mound, winning three in a row after a rough start to the year. He's gone five straight starts without allowing a home run.

Hart has begun running recently without assistance, but he's just not going to be far enough along in a couple weeks to be activated from the 60-day DL. The first baseman is more likely to return within the first couple weeks of June.

Brewers placed 1B Mat Gamel on the 60-day disabled list with a knee injury.
It's a procedural move, as Gamel required surgery in early March to repair a torn right ACL and is expected to miss the entire 2013 season. The Brewers now have an opening on their 40-man roster.

It's a move made in order to clear 40-man roster space for Francisco Rodriguez. Green is out for the season after undergoing hip surgery last month.

Chris Narveson (finger) threw a bullpen session over the weekend in Cincinnati and is scheduled for another one while the Brewers are in Pittsburgh.
The left-hander should be ready for a rehab assignment after that. Assuming all goes well, it sounds like Narveson might be ready to return before the end of the month.

Brewers placed LHP Tom Gorzelanny on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 8, with shoulder tendinitis.
The 30-year-old southpaw has been one of the few dependable arms in the Brewers' bullpen this season, boasting a 2.30 ERA and 0.89 WHIP over his first 15 2/3 innings. Mike Fiers has been recalled to take his place.

Mark Rogers (shoulder) has been pulled from his minor league rehab assignment.
Rogers had a rough 11.12 ERA and 1/8 K/BB ratio in 5 2/3 innings with Double-A Huntsville and left his most recent appearance on Tuesday due to tingling in his right arm. The 27-year-old has a long injury history and began the season on the disabled list with what was termed as right shoulder instability. He has been sent back to Phoenix for further testing, after which we should know more about the next step.
