Red Sox minor league 1B Chris Marrero took home MVP honors in Wednesday's Triple-A All-Star Game by leading the International League to a 4-2 win over the Pacific Coast League.
He put the IL ahead 4-2 by belting a solo shot in the eighth inning off Iowa right-hander Armando Rivero. Marrero has had a heck of a week. The Pawtucket first baseman won the Triple-A Home Run Derby with a monster performance on Monday night and was named International League Player of the Week after hitting .577 with eight runs and a 1.154 slugging percentage between July 4 and July 10. A first-round pick in 2006, Marrero hasn't played in the majors since 2013. Jul 14 - 2:36 PM
