Brad Eldred has signed with the Hiroshima Carp of Japan's Central League.
Eldred had no chance of playing regularly in the majors anytime soon and can make more money in Japan. He'll be replaced by Jeff Baisley on the Triple-A active roster.

Brad Eldred wouldn't confirm whether he'll join the Hiroshima Carp of the Japan's Central League.
Eldred was a healthy scratch from Monday's lineup with Triple-A Toledo and he didn't exactly issue a firm denial of the rumors. "What’s going on is probably better for me and my family," said Eldred. "That’s obviously the way I’m going to go." Nothing is confirmed yet, but Triple-A Toledo Phil Nevin said "I think we’ll know something tomorrow."

Brad Eldred is drawing interest from the Hiroshima Carp of the Japan's Central League.
It's no surprise, as Eldred has mashed at Triple-A Toledo this year to the tune of a .305/.374/.695 batting line with 24 home runs. The 31-year-old is unlikely to get a real shot with the Tigers this season, so it might make sense to earn a bigger paycheck overseas.

Tigers sent 1B/DH Brad Eldred outright to Triple-A Toledo.
Eldred was designated for assignment Friday and has cleared waivers. Injuries would likely have to occur for him to get another shot with the big club.

Tigers head athletic trainer Kevin Rand said Monday that an MRI on Anibal Sanchez's right shoulder showed no structural damage.
Encouraging news for the Tigers, though Sanchez was placed on the disabled list Monday. The hope is that he'll be ready to return right around when he's eligible at the end of the month.

Octavio Dotel is currently limited to playing catch after feeling more soreness in his right elbow after throwing from a mound.
"I don't know what's going on with Dotel," Tigers manager Jim Leyland said. "I think he's just trying to see if he still has it." Leyland added that some days Dotel feels good enough to play catch, but other days he doesn't. Multiple MRIs on Dotel's elbow have shown no structural damage, but Jason Beck of MLB.com writes that Dotel's season "appears to be in question." It's a fair question given that he's been out since late April and has yet to make notable progress.
