Justin Verlander allowed five runs over five innings but earned the win Wednesday as the Tigers beat the Indians.
Verlander had to work for his fifth win, needing 110 pitches to get through five. He gave up 10 hits, including a home run, but was aided by his team putting up nine runs in the same span. It marks the third-straight start in which Verlander has been less-than-great, seeing his ERA rise from 1.55 to 3.66 since May 5. There's still little reason to worry, though, and he'll take the mound again Monday against the Pirates.

Justin Verlander was torched for eight runs in 2 2/3 innings by the Rangers on Thursday.
It was stunning to see Verlander melt down, even in light of his poor outing last time out against the Indians (4 R, 3 ER, 5 BB in 5 IP). He hit a batter and issued two walks with the bases loaded in the third inning tonight before Geovany Soto hit a three-run homer to knock him out of the game. The seven-run inning was the worst of his career, and he tied his career high by allowing eight runs overall. It was his shortest outing in three years. Verlander's velocity is actually better than it was last month, and it's not like he's totally lost his command. This will likely just prove to be a bump in the road.

Justin Verlander struggled in Saturday’s loss to the Indians, allowing four runs and six hits in five frames.
Verlander did strike out seven, but he needed 110 pitches to get through five innings of work. His usual pinpoint control was severely lacking in this one, as he issued five walks, including a free pass to Jason Giambi with the bases loaded in the first inning. Verlander still sits at 4-3 on the season with a 2.10 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 57/18 K/BB ratio over 51 1/3 innings. He will try to bounce back when he takes on the Rangers in Arlington on Thursday.

Justin Verlander threw seven scoreless innings Sunday against the Astros.
Verlander didn't allow a hit through six innings before giving up a single to Carlos Pena. He gave up two walks and finished with nine strikeouts. Verlander is now 4-2 with a 1.55 ERA and 50/13 K/BB ratio in 47 innings this season. He'll get the Indians in his next start.

Austin Jackson (hamstring) is unlikely be activated from the disabled list when he's eligible Monday.
Jackson landed on the disabled list earlier this month with a strained left hamstring, but we haven't heard much about his progress. That's probably because there's little to update, as Chris Iott of MLive.com hears that he isn't currently doing any physical activity. Fantasy owners will have to hope that changes real soon.

Dotel was given medication and shut down for six days after Dr. James Andrews determined earlier this month that he had no structural damage in his right elbow. The righty will eventually head out on a rehab assignment, though it's unclear when that will happen. He should return sometime next month if he can avoid setbacks.
