Jeff Samardzija struggled in Sunday's loss to the Rockies, yielding seven runs on seven hits over 5 1/3 innings.
Samardzija had allowed three runs through the first five innings and looked to be in decent shape heading into the sixth, at which point everything collapsed for the veteran right-hander. Gerardo Parra and Trevor Story both picked up RBI hits to drive Samardzija from the game, with Story later coming home against the bullpen to finish off the scoring on his line. This makes three dismal starts in a row for Samardzija, who has surrendered 16 runs in his last 17 1/3 innings. He will carry a 7.40 ERA and 1.52 WHIP into a home start against the Padres next time he toes the rubber. Until he shows some sign of righting his season, it will be tough to rely on him for fantasy purposes. Apr 23 - 5:58 PM
