Mariners GM Jerry Dipoto said that if the season started today, "Jesus Montero would be [Seattle's] first baseman."
While Dipoto said that Montero is currently in line to start, he indicated that future moves could be made that would change that. For the time being, though, he believes Montero deserves a look. The former highly-touted prospect turned 26 on November 28. In 112 at-bats with the Mariners in 2015, he slashed .223/.250/.411 with five homers and 19 RBI. The 112 at-bats were the most Montero's seen since he accrued 515 in 2012, his first year after being traded from the Yankees. He's still young enough that he deserves slight attention in deeper AL-only formats, but prospective owners can't expect much at this point. Wed, Dec 2, 2015 06:41:00 PM
