Jesse Chavez earned the win in Thursday's 18-inning victory over the Yankees, striking out seven over 5 2/3 scoreless innings.
He gave up just one hit and walked two, with one of them being intentional. Chavez had been dealing with some minor pectoral soreness, but obviously he's fine. He boats a 1.83 ERA and 0.97 WHIP out of the A's bullpen this season.

It sounds like a day-to-day situation. Chavez, who has a 2.57 ERA and 1.14 WHIP over nine games this season, should be available out of the bullpen shortly.

Athletics recalled RHP Jesse Chavez from Triple-A Sacramento.
Chavez has allowed four runs (three earned) over 4 1/3 innings with the A's this season. He'll operate in middle relief.

He was sent down to make room for Monday's starter, Dan Straily, on the active roster. Chavez has allowed four runs (three earned) in 4 1/3 innings of work with the A's this season. He'll likely bounce back and forth from the majors to the minors throughout the summer.

It's a procedural move to open up a 40-man roster spot. Sizemore underwent his second major knee surgery in two years last week and will not play this season.

Anderson is still working his way back from a stress fracture in his right foot and will be forced to remain in a walking boot for at least another four weeks. The Athletics have transferred him to the 60-day disabled list and he won't be reevaluated until after the All-Star break.

Rodriguez will miss the entire 2013 season. The 28-year-old had a 5.37 and 78/34 K/BB ratio over 70 1/3 innings last season with the Astros and was acquired in February's Jed Lowrie deal.
