Anthony Recker will make the Mets as a backup catcher.
Recker is hitting .346 (9-for-26) with one home run this spring and ultimately got the nod over Landon Powell. He'll back up John Buck for now, but will likely be booted off the roster as soon as top prospect Travis d'Arnaud is deemed ready for the big leagues.

Mets claimed C Anthony Recker off waivers from the Cubs.
Recker was designated for assignment by the Cubs earlier this week. The 29-year-old backstop batted .143 (7-for-49) in 22 games between the Athletics and Cubs this season. He'll serve as organizational depth for the Mets.

He was cleared to make room for the newly-claimed Carlos Gutierrez on the 40-man roster. Recker appeared in 22 games this season between the A's and Cubs.

Jenrry Mejia (elbow) racked up six strikeouts over three innings during his first minor league rehab start with High-A St. Lucie on Friday.
Mejia has been on the disabled list for the entire season with inflammation in his pitching elbow. He's likely to require a relatively lengthy rehab assignment, and shouldn't be expected to return to the Mets until early June. Should he secure a spot in the Mets rotation, he could carve out a decent amount of value in NL-only and deeper mixed leagues.

The move cleared a spot on the Mets' 40-man roster for Aaron Laffey. Santana (shoulder) won't pitch this season.

Francisco was diagnosed with a mild strain of the flexor pronator in his right elbow last week, but he's already back at it. However, it's not clear if he's throwing from a mound or simply playing catch or long-tossing. Either way, he's not close to rejoining the Mets' bullpen.

Collin McHugh was called up from Triple-A Las Vegas to fill the vacant bullpen spot. Atchison has been shut down for a week and prescribed anti-inflammatory medication. It's not clear when he might return.
