Eric Hosmer keyed a critical rally in the ninth inning on Sunday as the Royals came-from-behind to beat the Mets in Game 5 of the World Series to secure their second title in franchise history.
As a team, the Royals were only able to muster four singles through eight scoreless innings against Matt Harvey, but the tide changed when Lorenzo Cain led off the ninth inning with a walk. After he deftly swiped second base, Hosmer delivered an RBI double to get them on the board. He advanced on a ground ball and then darted home on a ground ball to third base as David Wright threw to a first. A decent throw from Lucas Duda would have nailed him and extended the series, but it was way off target and Hosmer was able to dive in safely with the tying run. He finishes the postseason hitting just .212/.236/.288, though he came through when it mattered most and drove home 17 runs. Mon, Nov 2, 2015 12:35:00 AM
