Stephen Strasburg gave up two runs -- one earned -- over eight innings as the Nationals vanquished the Padres 6-2 on Thursday.
He walked three and struck out four, hurling 117 pitches before ceding to Rafael Soriano. Strasburg again wasn't at his best -- only 68 of those tosses were strikes -- but he handcuffed San Diego regardless. The 24-year-old right-hander has been considered a fantasy disappointment to this point, despite possessing a 2.83 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 55/18 K/BB rate. If everyone were judged similarly, we'd all be unemployed.
May 17 - 12:49 AM
Stephen Strasburg allowed four runs -- though none were earned -- as the Nationals lost to the Cubs on Saturday.
Strasburg was not sharp and got no support from his defense in the ugly all-around effort by Washington. The right-hander allowed five hits and walked two while striking out seven. He will carry a 1-5 record, 3.10 ERA and 1.18 WHIP into his next start against the Padres.
May 11 - 7:23 PM
Stephen Strasburg yielded four earned runs in seven innings but the Nationals beat the Pirates on Saturday.
Strasburg made it through the outing without feeling any more tightness in his right forearm, but it was not an overly pretty effort. He allowed five hits -- including two home runs -- while issuing one walk. The 24-year-old right-hander will carry a 3.45 ERA and 1.15 WHIP into his next scheduled start against the Cubs.
May 4 - 7:09 PM
Stephen Strasburg (arm) tossed a free and easy bullpen session on Wednesday at Turner Field.
Strasburg complained of some mild forearm tightness in his last outing, but he has been cleared of any structural damage and will be able to take his next turn in the Nationals' starting rotation (on Saturday against the Pirates). The talented 24-year-old right-hander owns a 3.13 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 36/12 K/BB ratio in 37 1/3 innings (six starts) this season. But he is 1-4.

Nationals placed C Wilson Ramos on the 15-day disabled list with a left hamstring strain.
Ramos missed a couple weeks last month with the same injury. He doesn't think the strain is too bad, but it's possible the Nats will play it safe and hold him out longer this time around.

Bryce Harper will miss Saturday and likely Sunday's game as well because of a bruised left knee.
Harper is still feeling the effects of running into the Dodger Stadium outfield wall on Monday night and is getting a few days to recover in San Diego before the Nationals head to San Francisco. Harper underwent an MRI on his abdomen on Friday, which came back clean.

Jayson Werth is going to Chicago to see another specialist regarding his tight right hamstring.
Werth suffered a setback in his rehab Wednesday when he felt some tightness in his hamstring during a game at High-A Potomac. He saw a doctor in New York on Saturday, and he'll see another one in Chicago early next week. He is still hoping to return to the Nationals' lineup by Friday but that seems unlikely to happen.

Nationals manager Davey Johnson confirmed Friday that Ross Detwiler will not make his scheduled start against the Giants on Monday due to a lower back injury.
Detwiler was required to leave his most recent start on Wednesday due to back spasms. No word yet on whether he'll require a trip to the disabled list. Craig Stammen is expected to replace Detwiler in the rotation while he's out.

D.L.
Christian Garcia (forearm) has been throwing from a mound and will begin incorporating curveballs on Thursday.
He'll then throw live batting practice after that before heading out on a rehab assignment, though it's not clear when he'll be ready for that. The Nats were planning on stretching Garcia out as a starter prior to his forearm injury, and they still might, but it depends on what the big club needs by the time the righty is healthy.
