Mike Puma of the New York Post was told by a high-ranking team official that prospect right-hander Zack Wheeler is expected make 2-3 more starts with Triple-A Las Vegas before joining the Mets.
That would place his major league debut somewhere around June 6 or 11, which would leave the Mets safe from any concerns about eventual Super Two status. Wheeler returned to action Wednesday after a recent collarbone issue and allowed three runs in five innings. The 22-year-old has a 3.99 ERA and 49/20 K/BB ratio in 48 1/3 innings across eight starts this season. He's worth stashing in deeper mixed leagues at this point.

Zack Wheeler allowed three runs in five innings Wednesday for Triple-A Las Vegas in his return to action.
Cleared of his recent clavicle issue, it was his first start since May 11. Wheeler threw a total of 67 pitches and allowed five hits and two walks while striking out two. He also hit a batter. Given the long layoff, the results shouldn't be taken too critically. Still, the Mets want to see another solid string of starts before he is called up to the majors. We're still guessing he'll be up in mid-June.

Zack Wheeler was placed on the 7-day disabled list with Triple-A Las Vegas due to his recent clavicle soreness.
It's just a procedural move, as Wheeler was cleared of any structural damage during a visit with team doctors in New York. The 22-year-old right-hander is scheduled to return to action on May 22 and should be on his way to Queens at some point in June.

Zack Wheeler was cleared of any structural damage in his clavicle Wednesday during a visit with team doctors.
"All good," Wheeler's agent Al Goetz sent in a text message to the Newark Star-Ledger. Wheeler began experiencing some minor soreness in his collarbone earlier this week and was sent to New York City for a precautionary exam. But everything checked out fine. He should return to the Triple-A Las Vegas rotation within the next several days.

Jenrry Mejia (elbow) racked up six strikeouts over three innings during his first minor league rehab start with High-A St. Lucie on Friday.
Mejia has been on the disabled list for the entire season with inflammation in his pitching elbow. He's likely to require a relatively lengthy rehab assignment, and shouldn't be expected to return to the Mets until early June. Should he secure a spot in the Mets rotation, he could carve out a decent amount of value in NL-only and deeper mixed leagues.

Francisco was diagnosed with a mild strain of the flexor pronator in his right elbow last week, but he's already back at it. However, it's not clear if he's throwing from a mound or simply playing catch or long-tossing. Either way, he's not close to rejoining the Mets' bullpen.
