After throwing a bullpen session on Wednesday, Craig Kimbrel said that his mechanical issues have been improving.
Kimbrel struggled down the stretch for the AL East champs, surrendering seven runs (six earned) on three hits over nine innings. He also issued nine walks in that space. Six of those walks came in his final three appearances of the season. All of this was enough for reporters to ask manager John Farrell if a change was going to be made at closer. On Sunday, he said, "At this moment, no." Not exactly a vote of confidence, but pitching coach Carl Willis believes that the flamethrowing closer's issues stem from a mechanical issue, one which Kimbrel was working to iron out on Wednesday. The Red Sox open the ALDS against the Indians on Thursday. Wed, Oct 5, 2016 06:04:00 PM
