J.J. Hoover imploded in the ninth inning Saturday, giving up a walk-off grand slam to Ike Davis to lose to the Mets.
After entering the ninth inning with a 3-2 lead, Hoover failed to retire any of the four batters he faced. He walked two in the inning, including Ruben Tejada, who was trying to give him an out with a sacrifice bunt. Davis then launched a ball over the right field fence to end it. Jonathan Broxton (forearm) should get most of the save chances once he comes off the disabled list early next week, but we probably won't see Hoover in the ninth inning anytime soon. Sam LeCure figures to get the next opportunity. Apr 5 - 4:44 PM
