Tigers reassigned OFs Nick Castellanos and Tyler Collins, INF Argenis Diaz and RHP Trevor Bell to minor league camp.
No surprises here. Castellanos is regarded as the Tigers' top prospect and will continue to get regular reps in the outfield in the minor leagues. However, the 21-year-old could make an impact in the majors before the year is out.

Nick Castellanos went 2-for-4 and hit a two-run homer in the Tigers' 10-1 rout of the Phillies on Monday.
Castellanos' homer came off a struggling Jonathan Papelbon. Castellanos played left field today and is expected to see most of his time there this spring. It's highly unlikely that the Tigers will carry him as a bench player initially -- he'd be better off playing regularly in the majors -- but he might end up as the platoon partner for Andy Dirks in left later this summer.

Tigers prospect Nick Castellanos will start in left field in Friday's Grapefruit League opener against the Braves.
Castellanos was originally a third baseman, but the Tigers had him play 51 games in right field last season with Double-A Erie in order to accelerate his path to the majors. However, since the Tigers added Torii Hunter over the winter and plan to play him in right field, Castellanos will now be groomed for left field. The soon-to-be 21-year-old should be ready for the majors at some point later this season.

The Tigers are not expected to promote top prospect Nick Castellanos to the majors in September.
Castellanos was moved to the outfield last month, fueling speculation that he could be a fit with the big club late in the year, but that's evidently not the case. The 20-year-old could use some more seasoning, anyway, as evidenced by his 6/55 BB/K ratio since his promotion to Double-A Erie.

Tigers placed OF Austin Jackson on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring.
Jackson is expected to need the full 15 days. Avisail Garcia was called up from Triple-A Toledo in a corresponding roster move and will get regular playing time in the Detroit outfield over the next two-plus weeks. Jackson was batting .272/.333/.371 with two homers, 11 RBI, five stolen bases and 33 runs scored in 34 games.

Octavio Dotel visited Dr. James Andrews for a second opinion on his injured right elbow.
The bad news is Dotel still isn't feeling quite right, but the good news is Dr. Andrews found no structural damage. Dotel will rest for six days before attempting to resume his throwing program. He's out indefinitely.
